Any poor peasant with no modern education in today’s Ethiopia knows more about organizational rules and democratic procedures than Doctor Denkoro Taye Woldesemayat. Listen to this amazing VOA interview with the “political scientist.” Click here to listen.

It was good that Taye w/semayat spent those many years in jail. Had he been among the public, he should have been exposed for what he is. Honesty and love of one’s country in politics is very important. Or else this happens to those like him.
By saying “korem almolam”, is he claiming being the president of ETA still? OR is the word “Korem almolam” the fashion in KIC?
In any way, there are many things which surprise me these days about Dr. Taye. He is thinking that by being a political scientist (as he called him self) will make him better than the other CUD leaders to lead the party (than the judge, the economist and the engineer). Actually this perception of Dr. Taye is similar with that of EPRP (the undemocratic). How can a person who called himself a political scientist failed to analyze the problems in Ethiopia and the programs of CUD to tackle these problems in the very beginning. He was against the programs of CUD. Now he wanted to be the leader since many Ethiopians support CUD, what a surprise to hear from a political scientist. The poor farmer in the country side understood the programs of CUD and died for it. However, the political scientist just wakeup from his long years sleep to lead the beloved CUD after many paid the huge sacrifice. What a shame!
Unlike many political scientists in our world, his interview does not indicate any analysis of the situation in CUD and its future prospect except focusing on “alubalta” and accusing Addisu. Addisu is doing the write thing as a journalist. He did not fabricate any thing as Dr. Taye; he interviewed the leaders about the issues what people want to know. I wished Dr. Taye does not give any interview not to degrade himself further. “mikerew mekrew embi kale mekera yimkerew”.
Let alone Dr. Taye, a person that you don’t agree with his political decision, but no one should be called DENKORO! Please let’s grow from these political problems than degrade down from where we are at this point in our political culture. Remember what goes around comes around, so please let’s just focus on the political issues than on the name calling that we seem to be mastering.
Elias,
Please delete all those Donkoro words in this notes of yours. By using this kind of unethical words, you are also degrading your website.
Dr Taye is one of prominent Ethiopians who was praised for his courage to returned back to Ethiopia knowing that he would be prey of the EPRDF.
Do you have the courage to go back to Ethiopia and confront the cruel EPRDFs?
I agree that all his previous good and patriotic deeds couldnt be an excuse for what he is doing/saying now. But he still still is a Doctor and above all humanbeing.
Please, you need to apologize the Dr and your readers.
Scepticu
I agree, we are expected to give a comment or compliment on ideas not personalities. Personally, i don’t appreciate what Dr. Taye is into. totally he is the wrong man at this time.
i will kindly request all involved, to down play the tone for sometime until our objective of saving the CUD leadership is straightned.

Why this name-calling? Why this self-degrading language? Why such intensity and ferocity to ‘label’ and ‘dismiss’? Why the need for such ‘overkill’? Is there no any other way to deal with people from whom our views and opinions drastically differ? Why should it always be,yes always be an ‘Armageddon’? Why this extreme and stark reaction about transitory events perceived as though they were permanent?
Why the lack for balance, moderation, patience and farsightedness? Can’t I criticise without ostracizing? Can’t I show my brother’s or sister’s error without severe denunciation? Is there no HOPE for me to redeem my opponent? Is there no hope for ME to be redeemed? No chance for us to reconcile with one another after the bitter fight? No opportunity at all to offer the olive branch each other and sincerely say ‘sorry’?
Truly, I don’t think this is essentially about Dr.Taye W/Semayat.I think, this is about us.Frankly,I am not deeply worried about Dr.Taye.Individuals like him come and go.I am rather worried about us.I am worried about this unbridled intensity, this high pitch fever. You know,it is not healthy.Such fever damages primarily the brain. How can then one think with clarity and sobriety? Who can then prevent us from self-harm in this brain-damaged state? I am sicerely worried about us!
We are entitled to have our personal opinions and have our political affiliation. Nevertheless, if we are thinking of building a country, common to ~70 Million people, it is better to think rationally and respect each other and listen to what others are saying.
It is encouraging to see, though few in number, respectful comments like comments 53,54,55, and 56.
I think most of us don’t even understand what press freedom is about … it is not name calling and insulting. It comes with responsibility and obligations too.
It is very very sad to see so many of us having irrational persona. I believe that the stem of the problem lies on the host of many of our (Ethiopian) websites (in this case Ethiopian Review). They are supposed to (not necessarily) to inform and allow people to debate and come to a common understanding of any political or other issues, if possible. Unfortunately we don’t see that quite often.
We are better than others if and only if we are able to demonstrate and exhibit that we have something better to say and do.
