O.N.L.F Press Release
October 26, 2007
The Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) has had a consistent and long standing policy welcoming direct negotiations with the regime currently in power in Ethiopia provided that such negotiations are held in a neutral third country with the presence of a neutral third party arbiter of international standing with no preconditions placed on either party.
In that context, the ONLF welcomes the appeal made by several members of the United States House of Representatives and Senate requesting the President of the United States to instruct the United States Department of State to facilitate negotiations between the ONLF and the regime currently in power in Ethiopia. The ONLF, on behalf of the people of Ogaden, welcomes the concern and commends the leadership of these representatives of the American people.
The Ethiopian regime has shown that, left to its own devices, it will continue to pursue a war it can not win in Ogaden characterized by a policy of collective punishment tantamount to genocide. As such, the international community bears a moral responsibility to intervene in order to hold this regime accountable for its actions.
The United Nations in particular bears a responsibility to act on the recommendations of the recent humanitarian fact finding mission to Ogaden which called for an “independent investigation” into human rights abuses in Ogaden.
As the legitimate representatives of the people of Ogaden, the ONLF stands ready to partner with the United Nations and members of the international community who seek to alleviate the suffering deliberately imposed on our people by the Ethiopian regime as well as those genuinely seeking to find a just, lasting and comprehensive political solution to the Ogaden conflict.

Political Maturity that shows a ton of wisdom
WOW !!!!! ONLF is for real
That is what you call civilized politics of the 21st century
Excellent Job!
The ONLF is ready for civilized dialogue but it takes two to tangle.Meles and his TPLF are not interested in peace and harmony in Ogaden and Ethiopia.Still,he does not believe others are equal to him and there is only one way-his way.
What about the crimes he comitted in Ogaden and Oromia? All it takes for the Western powers is to tell him to knock it off and he will stop his savagery in Ogaden.
I believe ONLF must clearly show its Ethiopian Identity first and we must fight together to free our population from the grippe of the group of tyranny who subjugate the whole people in Ethiopia. For me Ogadean Liberation front doesn’t make sense when the whole Ethiopia is under a similar colonialist rule, with people who don’t identify them self as Ethiopian.
Ogaden is an integral part of Ethiopia, any harm to the Ogadean people is a harm to the rest of Ethiopian people. We should stand and fight together our common enemy, the ruler in Addis Ababa is killing our population without distinction in every corner of Ethiopia.
Kendie,ONLF represent the opressed Ogadeni community and they are fighting for their human rights. It seems that you want them to turn the other cheek and die quitely. What are you doing to save the women and children of Ogaden from Woyanne killers?Kendie, respect and loyalty should not be demanded,it should be earned.
Brother Abdi I’m affraid you missed out the point, you said
“It seems that you want them to turn the other cheek and die quitely”
No, no I didn’t say that, all I said, the crime committed on our Ogaden brothers and sisters is a crime on all of us.
Wayane is using brain washed mercenaries, our own brothers and sisters to kill us everyday no body is spare he is our equal enemy. I’m a 60 years old person and know very well the region, I never find a reason to separate the Ogaden from Ethiopia for that matter any part of our country. our strength is our unity on purpose and good principle for good governance, I’m against creating small colony because that only serve some individual hidden personal agenda, interest ,means another dictators. What driving us buried in our subconscious is the timing bomb that the colonialist left behind when they left our continent. They want us to slash our continent on clan line, into tiny colony so they can rule us remotely through their appointed puppets little mind dictators. They feed continuously these activity with different element so the trend never die down.
To example brother Abdi
– Why Somalia the most homogenous country in Africa became ungovernable, small clan are fighting each other for years
– Why the Americans fought the separatist longtime ago and warranted the march for the most successful country in our earth system, UNITED STATE OF AMERICA.
Brother Abdi are you an Ogadeani, if you are do you want Ethiopia to end like Somalia or the first successful democratic federated state in African. Lets not settle for less, we have lots more to gain together. Lets not use these innocents’ people for cheap political benefit. lets fight for democracy, equality, and economical development, its easily achievable when we understand our geographical position, variety of resources, our commonality, our differences…
For peace and unity
