Worldwide rally against U.N. sanction on Eritrea – update

Eritrean communities around the world are organizing a worldwide protest demonstration calling for the annulment of the ill-advised U.N. Security Council resolution against Eritrea that was passed in December 2009. Eritrea is being victimized for standing up on the side of the oppressed people of Ethiopia and Somalia who are being brutalized by the West-backed genocidal regime in Ethiopia. When some misguided U.S. Department of State officials were unable to get a bill passed in the U.S. Senate against Eritrea, they gathered some corrupt African leaders such as Uganda’s Museveni and pushed a resolution through the U.N. Security Council. The people of Ethiopia and all Horn of Africa countries stand with Eritrea in opposing the resolution, which will only serve to embolden the Woyanne regime to commit more crimes and incite more war in the region. Let’s stand in solidarity with our Eritrean brothers and sisters on February 22.

The Washington DC Rally
Date/Time: Feb. 22 starting at 10 AM
Place: Lafayette Park, in front of the White House

  1. Africans must look at the bigger picture and unite against neo colonial agendas. I for one will join Eritreans in voicing my opposition to the illegal sanctions that passed without any evidence. If they can do this to Eritrea, no one is safe from the neo colonial agendas of the west and the so called leaders that only ask how high when asked to jump by their masters. Down with the likes of Meles, Musevini, and the rest of the corrupt ‘leaders’ that occupy power only through the support extended to them by the west.

  2. The Ethiopian/Eritrean people are one and the same it is only power hungry political leaders and their foreign allies are creating problem. Why should countries in Africa divide while those in Europe and USA unite. Are Africans stupid as some claim not to understand the advantage of unity?

  3. The only friend we have and this sanction nonsense. I call on the people of the Horn and especially the Ethiopian residing in DC, Melbourne, San Fran and Geneva and their environs to join our Eritrean cousins in their attempt to annul this truly unjust US crime slapped on them in the name of the UNjust UN. Shame on the African leaders who have participated and encouraged this crime against our people! Let is face it, be it Eritreans or Somalis are part of our people and damage done to them is a total sum damage done to all of us. More importantly, let us show the US that they may choose Meles and company for he is undeniably their obedient servant, but even their overall interest rests with the masses of the Horn. We, all of us, will not succumb to any sanction or any other gimmick that the US shamelessly pushed to pass just because it can. And that is totally unacceptable to the entire people of the Horn. We must remember that the sanction is aimed at our liberation forces as much as it is against Eritrea! Thus, we, Ethiopians, must stand solidly with the Eritrean people and government.

  4. Comment #2 “Tenkir”. Please don’t be silly. Tigrigna and Arabic are the official languages of the country. Amharic is not. Are you suggesting that the flyer should be written in Amharic, Somaligna, Swahili and French just because those are the main languages of the Horn region? You see the impracticality of such suggestion.
I for one will fly to DC to partake in this historically important and I believe, (politically binding exercise for the brotherly Eritrean and Ethiopian peoples! We need to be together and remain so to thwart any evil machinations that may come from the US and other Weyane supporting Western powers!

  5. Every African must participate in the call for lifting the unjust sanction against Eritrea. This is not about Eritrea, this is about Whites showing us they are superior to blacks by buying black modern day slaves (Meles Zenawi, Jendayi Frazer, Susan Rise, Kofi Anan, Moi Kibaki and Yewori Musevini).

  6. My Ethiopian brothers and sisters, please bring Ethiopian flags with you to the demonstrations in the those cities to show the people of Eritrea and Ethiopia are united in their opposition to the UNjust sanction against Eritrea.

That will show those criminals in the state department that this time around Eritreans are not alone in the fight for true freedom and the all out fight against neo-colonialism.

  7. This is a call for all of us people of the Horn of Africa. Comment #2 above needs attention. All languages of the Horn could be used to communicate with as wide audience as possible. At the end of the day all are victims of this unholy and unjust resolution. Thank you

  8. I am going to support to my Eritrean friends. But not because of they are my friends only, it also because last time I watched the interview of their president, about how he think and how both Brother countries work togather for the peace in the region and particularly with us, it really inspired me a lot, In my opinion he is one with clear vision for his country and for the peace of the region. But as we all know if you are not corrupted in Africa, they don’t like u.
I invite to all Ethiopians to join and give support for the sake of peace and justice.
If we are all togather,it will be suicide for TPLF leaders.

    Long live Ethiopia!!

  9. If I were in America, I definetely be one of the flag holders in the frontline. Unfortunately I am far away from America. Hopefully I will be there next year but not now. Brothers and sisters in Eirtrea I am with you, support your idea 100%. Good luck UN is really politically biased and not impartial at all when it comes to Wayyaanee.

  10. To No. 2, Tenkir. Why dont you write your poster in Amharic and holding your Ethiopian flag and join them? This unjut unfair sanction is directed directly or indirectly also aginst Ethiopians and Horn in paricular, as well as other Africans.

  11. To reinforce what comment #10 above said,

Please bring Ethiopian flags to the demonstaration. There is nothing that would send a chilling message to the Weyanes and their handlers than to see the Eritrean and Ethiopian flags fly in unison for a common cause and unity of purpose!

  12. Elias thanks. The commentators above have some it. The sanction is not designed for Eritrea only but for those who are strugeling to free Ethiopia for the cancer that is eating here alive. The joint effort should be view as historic in the fight for a true freedom. As I listen to Meles interview at Aigaforum.com how low this guy is beyond speech. He is completely nuts. He will destroy Ethiopia unless he is controlled or taken out. O lord save Ethiopia and Eritrea from scam of the earth and his western handlers. Victory is for certain let us march the noble march and my God bless you on your just efforts.

  13. I have never thought i would stand up for Eritrea, but having been enlightened about the Eritreans and their desire for peace and the good wish for Ethiopia, I am glad to say I will join them on this one. The reality is Meles is working very hard to punish Eritrea for helping our freedom fighters. Meles could care less if Eritrea helps Somalia or not. His main purpose is to block EPPF, OLNF, OLF, TPDM and others from getting support from Eritrea. This time Eritrea’s war is my war too.

  14. Never thought I see this day. Truly the political maturation and emancipation of both peoples of Eritrea and Ethiopia is here. Please bring Ethiopian flags!! The midget will see that the people have awaken. and all Ethiopians at home will see that the day of reckoning is near.

  15. I am living in Norway but I am with all that they stand againsty Woyanne.Woyanne is the ugly and evil one who want destroy whole horn of Africa. My dear brothers and Sisters from Tigria this is a big time for you to stand with us.Now!!!!

  16. Let’s be honest, do you really believe more Eritreans speak Arabic compared to Amharic?
I agree with the message but some Eritreans and Ethiopians should make a lot of psychological changes for real unity to happen. Everybody need to understand Ethiopians are not some random neighborhood citizens for Eritreans.

  17. Melese is one of the most hated human mammal in in the history of Ethiopia.Any thing to get red of this dangerous creature we should be more than ready to coordinate our resistance with the eritreans for the common good.

  18. Elias
I appreciate your initiative. The solidarity and participation of Ethiopians in the Eritrean demonstration will accelarate more the understanding, relationship and trust of Eritreans and Ethiopians. The Somali and the Sudanese are also welcome to express thier solidarity

  19. Let’s support our Eritrean brothers for this shameful and UNjust sanction Against Eritrea. The only government and people in the world stood with the people of Ethiopia on the difficult times
I will be glad to see Ehioian flag along Eritrean flag . it is a good way to send a strong massage to the Neo colonialist and servant wayanes.

  20. Tenkir,
I am Eritrean by blood but Ethiopian by spirit. Since I was born and grew up in Ethiopia, I am against any insult incurred to mother Ethiopia. We should applaud this sanction as a blessing in disguise. Because, it seems to have a stronger unifying factor bw Eritraens and Ethiopians. I guess we should take this opportunity to get closer together so that we can deter the evil that is perpertrated against the people in Horn of Africa. Bottom line, I encourage Tenkir to see the big picture. We need to build the trust bw us. Unfortunately, this process will not be achieved overnight. We need leaders like Elias to organize meetings so that we can learn about each others concerns.

  21. TOGATHER WE WILL WIN.

The Meles Dictator, is already silenced all Ethiopians and opposition( Birtukan Jailed)
to win the coming election. He is running only by himself for this election. The result? We saw it already last election and for the last 20 years.
It is time to stand togather for Eritrean solidarity and our objection for Woyanewoch.

    Long live Ethiopia
    Solidarity for Eritreans

    We are all brothers.

  22. UN is using its power for intimidate some countries if they don’ do what the west wants them to do. It is good to see the simple fact,

-Woyane invaded Somali,in process, more than 19000 most innocent people died.

-They told us Eritrea has 2000 soldiers, but when woyane invaded Somal, we didn’t see one.

-They say Eritrea is arming al-shabab, Ok,Eritrea government asked just proof for their accusation. They didn’t provided

-Eritrea opinion is, if we want Somali in peace, there must be all inclusive political solution by Somalis not by foreigners,

-For the last 20 years we saw different type of temporary governments cooked out side the country. It was all failed.

-why Sanction Eritrea for their failed polices in the horn of Africa? Just they don’t want admit, instead they chose scapegoat.

-As always using UN and UNSC to intmidate, if you do what your master orders you, including invade your soverein Neighbour, like Woyane did.

-Let all peace loving people defend our freedom of our country, by condemining and standing togather.

  23. tekat kemaywedew,
I agree with you. We need more people like you from Eritrean side and Elias from Ethiopia….Ethiopia and Eritrea are more than two political parties leading the so called countries. Again port or any other crap aside, Eritreans need to understand they are bound by blood/culture/language/history more than any other country in the face of the world. That is what many nationalist Ethiopians (not pseudo-nationalist who cared about the port) have been saying all along. That I believe includes acknowledging Amharic is more Eritrean domain than Arabic. When I say this some might try to picture some fanatic Amhara but I am not even Amahara. United we stand!

  24. I agree with a comment above that we must understand that this sanction is also aimed against us – all of us. Let us show uncle Sam that the Horn of Africa is a home of a different breed than the “Yes” men that seem to be abundant all over Eritrea.

  25. I, too, would encourage Ethiopians to bring Ethiopian flag and be there in organized manner showing our solidarity with Eritrean people in opposing the shameful and unjust US-cooked sanction. Let us remember, this sanction is also meant to diffuse, slow down and discourage our struggle to liberate our country and prolong their best puppet slave Meles in power! Let us be there with our Ethiopian flags and send a chiiling message to Meles and his masters in DC, Switherland….everywhere on Feb 22. One love to Ethiopian and Eritrean people. See you in DC!

  26. Tenkir,
First of all, I have to admit that I am not privileged enough to be considered fully Eritrean. If you were to put Elias and me behind a curtain and speak to us in Amharic, there is no way you can identify which one of us is Eritrean or Ethiopian. The only difference bw you and me is that I know more about Eritrea because I have a lot of relatives. The brotherhood process have started; so, we should let it sink in its own terms. You don’t propose to a lady whom you have met a week ago (unless you have met her in Las Vegas). You have to build the trust. The rest is history. The rally on Feb 22nd is to let the US govt know that we are against the unjust sanction. I guess we should address our anger in the language they understand, which is English. By the way, there are 9 ethnic tribes in Eritrea and among them is Rashaida (speak Arabic) and Tigre (most live in Eritrea, but some in Sudan). It is the closest language to Geez. Interstingly, both the Geez and arabic alphabets were/is used in Tigre. It is different than Tigrigna.

  27. The common community bond growing day by day between ethiopians and eritreans in particular and horn african peoples in general is sending shck wave through the spines of meles/tplf and some tigrayans who want to keep their man in power and tigrayan rulership over the rest of ethiopians.
knowing that they are unable to thwart the eventual victory of the majority ethiopian people which is increasingly taking centerstage representing ethiopian peoples wishes and agendas
they are isolating themselves and openly advocating and manipulating our struggle.

  28. SO remembering that
1- the injustices the UN did against the ethiopian people.
2-the betrayal of the UN and other powers of the ethiopian people by a well ared european power.
3-the ones who stood by our ethiopian side were the diaspora africans
and eritreans like ZERAI DRES,LORENZO TAEZAZ and others.
I WIIL GO AND JOIN ERITREANS IN CALLING THE UN IS UNJUST !!!

  29. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere
    –Martin Luther King, Jr

If we don’t care enough to stand against the injustices on others, we haven’t earned the privilege and decency to complain and accuse others for not standing up against injustices upon us. In this case, the injustice is right on our alley. Today it is against Eritrea, and if we sit idle and watch with indifference, the same fate awaits us the moment we stand against the US and the west.

This is a cause, not only Eritreans, but any peace and justice loving people should stand and fight for. Eritreans never fail to stand for their country and people. For them, this protest is not any different; it is just a continuation of the struggle they have been fighting for the last 40 years.

The US and weyane thugs spent millions to break their spirit and their unity but to no avail. This sanction is another desperate attempt at that. Eritrea has become a bad example to Africa by standing up to the west, by telling the west that Africans are more than capable to solve their own problems had the west stopped interfering, aid is bad for Africa and Africans should wean themselves from hand outs of the west, etc. The US and the west don’t want these ideas to spread. They will stoop low, even use their servant regimes like weyane, to stop this “poisonous ideas” before spreading.

This is a historic opportunity to stand for justice in solidarity with other justice loving people. However,it is not an end, but a time to renew our pledge to continue standing up and fighting for peace and justice.

  30. The only way forward to prosperous Horn of Africa is to stand up and fight for our rights. What the westerners have achieved is that, they crippled Africans mentally to the point they have given up hope. Eritrea has provided the opportunity of Hope. Eritrea is showing that a realistic vision and struggle can pave ways to freedom. But those who are looking to exploit have been threatened by Eritrea’s vision that they looking to quash the hope by imposing ridiculous sanctions against Eritrea.
The good think here is that the world is seeing all the double standards and has begun to fight back. We have the opportunity to change history and make our region what it is—prosperous. Let’s fight and we will win.

  31. Hey my Ethiopian brothers, it is time to be together and show our solidarity and condemn the unjust sanction against our country Eritrea. Mind you all lies about Eritrean government arming alshebab and Eritrean army invading Djubti is just to hood wink the truth. and the truth is the tribal junta is preparing to stage fake election so that it will tighten up its grip on power to bleed Ethiopia yet again for another whatever years.

And the only country openly stands with the Ethiopian people is Eritrea. the Eritrean government and its president has never been shy on expressing their support loudly to the true Ethiopian freedom fighters, and this is sending a shivering cold to the spine of the tribal junta. hence the dedebs from dedebit come up with this futile idea which is sanctioning Eritrea would be sanctioning the Ethiopian resistance. and their masters from London and Washington have executed the evil and UNJUST sanction on Eritrea just to give an extra life line to the bandits of tigray who are the modern slaves of the west. but that is doomed to be dead.

Finally i would love to see Eritrean and Ethiopian flags flying side by side in Geneva and New york that would really send a message to woyanie bandits that we Eritreans and Ethiopians meant a business. Long live the solidarity of Ethiopians Eritreans.
