Part 1 documentary of the rarely mentioned rebel activity in southern Ethiopia. For the first time ever, rag-tag fighters of the shadowy Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) under the maverick leadership of Generals Kemal Gelchu and Haile Gonfa have been filmed in their bases in southern Ethiopia following an epic journey into the rebel territory by NTV reporter Yassin Juma and cameraman Eric Okoth. The OLF has been fighting a low key guerrilla war whose effects have occasionally been felt in the remote villages along the common border. The NTV exclusive inside rebel territory began with the drive up north for our crew.

  1. OLF might be well known where it is now and where it wants to go by its intended audience. I do not believe that its strength and its destiny are currently knows by most Ethiopians except its name. If all Ethiopian peoples are its audience, then it should work more on the public relation front. Forgive me if I am (the uninformed) wrong. If more video is not coming, this may prove that OLF in terms of Army exists in name.

  6. Its great to see that OLF has come back in picture and we oromo always know we have never been let to fight against Wayne by OLF former leaderships. As an oromo, the Old OLF as embrassed as as cowards ineffective and disunited people but now it looks this as a good beginning. Unity is streath and no nation is free until its people are free and put the people need above your needs and that all what is meant as caring and librator. Haya, Rabiin Isin hs hamilikaysuu. Since the bloody Meles and his cronies chose to abuse and slaughter Oromos,Amhara,Somalis,Eritreans no matter they are armed or not,not because they are powerful or warriors,but because they are sold out mercenaries puppets of neo-colonial right wing groups,by claiming that everyone in the horn is a terrorist and took the opportunity of the misguided U.S policy to arm themselves.Time will come this criminal tugs and their followers will pay dearly.Eritrea people will never ever forget their crimes.We will ever never sit with this untrustworthy dirty rats that backstabbed us.Since weyane is arming all his followers all tigraayans so that they can silence all other ethiopians,Eritrea will never stop mandatory national service so that our youth will not let weyane soldiers rape our women and burn our villages.I hope all ethiopian oppositon groups will follow us .

    It is on right time to see again Oromo Liberation Front. Wayane are killing all ethnics group without any human care. OLF and others armed force have to fight back Wayane from every corner of country. Once they overthrow Meles regime it is up to people to decided in a democratic way to live together or decided what ever the majority of people vote for. So, I want to see more brave Armed Force from all corner like Oromo Armed Force. Let’s work to make short life to this regime . People deserved to be free and Fair

  12. Well done NTV and OLF. the pathological lier Melese told the people of Ethiopia and Oromia that he mersinary agazi army wipedout OLF from the face of earth. Thanks to NTV and brave Oromo freedom fighters they proved the naked lies of dictator Melese to the world. Every time truth is told as it is and as it happened Melese cry and threatened to silence those brave journalist who simply did their job. Melese attempt to silence independent media is not new. When Al-Jazira documented the ONLF freedom fighters in Ogaden he wrote letter to the leader of that country and he tried every thing he couldn’t succed. Now he did the same to NTV but couldn’t stop in all instance. can he learn something from this? No why because he has not public support but he doesn’t have support from his own high ranking offices and so called politicians. thus why they all defect when they got the chance.

    Trying to silence the media will not solve the problem on the ground. It is better to find out political solution and get out of sleepness and paranoia which Melese is suffering from at this time. Melese know very well what the people of ethiopia think about him whether they like him or hate him. If he leave office no doubt he will end up in Qaliti or the Hauge. thus why they turn up before any one else to denouce ICC over Al-Basher. He knows very well his fate will not be different from the fate of Al-Bashir. Melese has blood on his hand. The crime he committed on the people of Oromo, Amhara, Somalis and other southners are unbearable. as he silenced media and free speech in Ethiopia, he tried to do so in Kenya. Thanks God Kenya is not Ethiopia and NTV is Not ETV.

    What Melese should learn if he can is, it is better to watch NTV and learn how much support OLF has from Oromo people. OLF army enjoy the support of Oromo across the board, intellectuals, nomads, farmers, businessmen and women, students, diaspors. in net shell every Oromo soul and head. OLF means Oromo people and Oromo people means OLF. Look Melese OLF army is eating fresh camel meat not grasshoper. where do you thing that camel came from? hahahahah After he get out of Dadabit cave, he even got the chance to eat and enjoye the Adda’a Teff and “Harar Senga” so do you deserve that? hahahahahah ICC and OLF army and Oromo and Ethiopian people are waiting for you around the corner. get panicked? hahahah cool down it is now upto Ethiopian people to decied your fate.

    your action is very sad and sends terror thru my spine. Here you are joining head with a dictator opressing the Eritrean people . On the other hand you are cheering for a group that is worse than Woyane that wishes the dismemberment of Ethiopian the OLF. Wishing there will be an Oromia State. What is wrong with you brother why can’t you get a day job where you are free of lies and distortion. Please , please you want to be a journalist you can join NPR and all te non profit organization to promote peace , love and harmony what our world is craving for. You are confused your news is confused , you are confusing the Ethiopian people with your non reliable news .   18. this is the time Africa is struggling for unity and OLF for separation from Ethiopia , denying an identity as Ethiopian and yet the vast majority in population and area coverage are Oromos. it would have been better to denay others to be Ethiopian instade of bringing the identity of the Oromo people in question?

  20. The best option is to collapse the Weyane regime through armed struggle. Woyane does not know diplomacy and negotiation. They are working only for their benefit not for the people. All the concerned parties and political organizations should make a minimum concensus to abolish weyand from the Horn region. Cooperation and intensifing action are required. Work and think to make a better “home”

  21. Critically addressing the Ethiopian political issue requires fundamental analysis of the root problems of the country. If Ethiopians want to really understand the main political problems of the country and get a solution by themselves, and get fundamental solutions that satisfies all the people, we need to honestly reexamine the last two decades of the 18th century and the whole of the 19th century Ethiopia history – history of war, poverty and famine. This period is the time when the present Ethiopian Empire (nations with nations) was “invented”, built, and consolidated by different regimes by force.The process has created a lot of problems that deserves appropriate solution in present day Ethiopia. Unless the problems are fundamenally solved, changing Weyene will not bring required change. We now know that changing Derg has not brought significant change.

    OLF is fighting for fundamental change. Not for cosmetic change. Nnot for bringing the old systems of past regimes back. This why Oromo heros and heroines are fighting for. From the above point of view, I support that OLF has a case that CAN NOT BE DROPPED but to be appropriately and fundamentally addressed. The OLF case, if you believe it or not, is a pillar in the makng of a new democratic Ethiopia. So all jeniune organizations concerned for better Ethiopia, first should make a jeniune deal and negtiation and develop a concensus for future Ethiopian political structure. Where is the road map?
