it is with great sadness I drop this note on OLF…it failed to deliver. The saddest thing is that all past regimes be it the derg now the vampires of adwa use oromos as foot soldiers and cannon fodders…how can be a people be used again and again and could not say no!! Look the ugadenias..look the Eritreans..

I may be generalizing and disappointing my readers. However, we have to vent our thoughts, celebrate our diversitity, tolerate our differnces and capitalize on our similarity and work on our unity.
Incessant historic foreign invassions, poverty, famine and wars have affected the culture and behaviours of northern and eastern Ethiopians. They seem to have formed a different ethos such that they look down on all the others. You must know that the Ethiopian people in the southern, central and western parts are peace-loving, naturally democratic, ambivalent, welcoming, egalitarian and communal people whereas the northerners and easterners are war-like, individualistic, vindictive, arrogant, unruly but always wanting to rule, wanting to plunder our resources, unchanging but always wanting to change, contemptous and resentful of all others. The latter always want to dominate whereas the former are humble and soft-spoken. Unfortunately, this is construed as weakness and ignorance by their compatriates. The reality is that the Southerners, Oromos and the Westerners are strong people who sacrificed their lives and shared their livelihood to defend their country. They could not and did not flee the fights like the northerns who knew their way out of the country. They are genuine Ethiopians, not mere Oromos in Oromia. No one needs to fight for them. They know how to fight. They do not need power-monger northerners to dominate them again. We do not need any liberator that would haunt us later. It is our fight in our land. We do not need TPLF, EPLF, EPPF and all other PFs who have alterior motives. The world of “might is right” has changed. We will seek peaceful legal and democrtatic strategy to secure our existence in a democratic Ethiopian State within the confines of the United States of Africa.
what will the OLF-C do after getting in to menelik’s palace? it is no different than the TPLF/EPRDF and the same story of vengeance and exploitation of the ethiopian people will continue! the oromo elites in menelik’s palace may benefit nut not the ordinary oromos!!!! only this time they will end up being exploited,harassed and so on by thier own sons and daughters!!!
it is only multiethnic forces like andenet led by birtukan mideksa, who is an oromo, who can achieve the true liberation of the oromo people and the rest of ethiopians from tyrrants and mafias who use ethinicity to divide and rule. the olf is no different, for it preaches that the oromo are above the amhara and tigre, that the group right of the oromo is more than the individual right of an oromo guy or tigre guy and so on!!!! therefore the olf just the same ends oppressing people,killing people,impisoning people and so on , for it has never acknowledged the freedom of the individual be it oromo,amhara,tigre or what ever to pursue the individaul rights of pursuing happiness and it never enshrined or incorporated the universal rights of human beings!!!!!!!! first it should change its name from OLF to say “Oromos and ethiopian people unity and liberation front” or something similiar if it still wants to retain its base of the oromo people! it should device genuine ways of including the rest of the ethiopian people in its strugle to oust the mafias from menelik’s palace!
Rather than see the amhara people as its enemies because of past history, it should rather strife hard to get thier support, for the oromos cannot deny that its elites has always been close to state power thogh not has got the real leadership role.
Many ethiopians believe that a genuine oromo leadership of ethiopia might at last liberate all from tyranny and eventual establishment of democratic institutions and freedom of speech and human rights respect with no regard to ethinicity which the current government uses to divide and rule!

I trust General Kemal Gelchu will work along with other political organizations for a united and democratic Ethiopia, once this disease called tplf is removed for good. Unity based on equal opportunity brings progress; prosperity and strength. The country is rich in resources to lift every citizen from the crushing poverty it is subjected to.
TPLF stands for Tigry people liberatio0n front. How and from whom they are liberated is the big question. In the name of TPLF, they are committing crimes against other Ethiopias having ethnic policy and kilil.
Is any one out there wants to replace them to do the same dirty job they are doing? Is there anyone thinks the cold war era will work at the computer and internet time? This is the very very different era than back then when OLF started. Even OLF members are now have different agenda in the name of OLF. Among the others, the Agenda of Clan, sub clan, Sub sub clans, religion, region and so on.
Look Somalia. They are all Muslims. All of them are speaking the same language. Only Somalians are living together in a limited boundary(Somalia). All of them are exercising almost the same tradition, custom and culture. Yet, look at them. They managed to stay together as a state Less than 30 years(Since independence-1990). They are Divided in thee namely Somali land, Punt land and Italian Somalia. Italian Somalia is divided in many pieces.
The whole of Somalia has only 5 clans. But with in Oromo, there are 28(some say 29) clans. There are religion differences. There is tradition, custom and so on differences with in Oromo. I know it very well. Because part of me is in it. Somalia has a historical right to be a state. The reason why South Sudan is demanding a separate statehood is because of during colonization, there was clear separation/demarcation (1905) between North Sudan that was more to Egypt and south Sudan that was 100% under British and associating more with Kenya and mainly Uganda.
Eritrea and other newly created nations also used the colonial era and the league of nation charter to become separate states. But the today’s Ethiopia was the same ever since created (1860+) before the African colonization even started in the Africa soil.
There fore there is no any ground in history that any Ethnic group in Ethiopia can claim own state as it wishes.
In the OLF case, the situation is very very complicated. The clan, sub clan, Sub Sub clan, religion, region, tradition, custom and others issues will never allow any Oromo nation to be created with in Ethiopia. The situation is very complicated than just thinking, talking and taking some actions here and there.
Ethnic based party, organization and the likes has no place anywhere. Human races are working together to live common life without race crates negative matters. We all Ethiopians are the same race. So, we need to work together to solve our common causes and problems. Innocent people need only better life. They don’t care who is who as long as they have peace, good live, safety and stability.
I think if there is a genuine and smart person with in OLF, he or she needs to ask the right questions and answering it with the right and constructive answers. They must face the reality and the truth. Century Old Europe is now acting as one big nation. Segregation in USA is now replaced by USA having a black president. Apartheid is gone from the African soil.
We Ethiopians look the same people naturally. We are living together as a nation more than any African and Asian nation does. The first part of Saudi was created 1906. The current Saudi as a nation is created 1934. Before that Saudi was like Ethiopia during Zemene Mesafint (1550-1860) and all african before colonization. Language is nothing but a tool/object to communicate. English is a white mans language and England has only 50+ million residents. However all Ethnics and races world wide are speaking English to communicate one another for better common life. English is the most spoken and using language despite the English are the very tiny among the human population. Histrorical facts are determining the day outcome. Meaning it doesn’t matter what language we speak but it matter when we communicate one another speaking a common language.
We Ethiopians speaking Amharic means we all can claim it naturally as our own language. Because we all look the same and are black. Using the only Black people alphabet (Geez) must be the pride to all black people not only to all Ethiopians. Because we all can claim it as ours. But we cannot do it with English and Latin Alphabets because of our race is from Africa.
So, OLF and other Ethnic based groups need to see the light and come with constructive and right idea/ approach to work all Ethiopian together for common benefit.
Remember, Ethiopians want peace, good life and respect one another. This will happen only when all of us coming together in the name of Ethiopia the right way to do the right thing. We have to concentrate on the big picture and the high way. Ethiopia for all us is the big picture and highway. If you follow a street and small pictures you will never reach to your destiny and in the process you would affect, others too. If not, our people suffering will continue because of we are concentrating on the small picture and following the streets. No ethnic group will achieve its goal by standing for one Ethnic group in a multi Ethnics nation..
There is no historical, colonial or legal right to permit any Ethnic group in Ethiopia to have own state. Show me the boarder. Show me any legal fact except talking that every one can do it but no achievement/progress. We are mixed people one another geographically and by blood. You can not tract a smelted sugar and honey from warm water. We Ethiopians are mixed one another like Sugar and honey with in glass warm water (Ethiopia).
I’m and we all have to support EPPF that is standing for Ethiopia. OLF also need to see its position that way if they are really serious doing something good for Ethiopia. Something good for Ethiopia means good for all Ethiopians including the Oromo and others.

I totally support united africa’s comment on Struggle of the OLF and others group. I am a northener by birth it doesn’t matter to me I reached to conclusion that in order to construct the true united Ethiopia and democratic we should all have a respect to one another. No more dominatron by certain groups over and over again. Ethiopia was getting deaseas and sick for long time ago and she lacks a doctor to cure her from her sickness. So far every ones that come’s as a doctor didn’t help her but made her sick and amputate her body Sad. Iron rule in Ethiopia sease when nationalits prove they are strong as the other one who wants dominate. Let ever one rise to fight unequal, undemocartic, and one group dominated system !!! I prefer non violence struggle but the Woyanne’s don’t know that and the alternative is violence towards woyanne any where, any place and anytime. Those of us who are in the WEST have to advocate for change in Ethiopia to have equal, democratic and genuine government that is chosen by the people and work for the people !!!!

Dawud Ibsa was not able to lead the front, Dawud Ibsa wants to take or share power with TPLF by negotiation, while Gen. Kemal Gelchu believes in having a strong Military force against Weyane. Co-operation of Amhara pro-democracy forces and Oromo freedom fighters against fascist Weyane
It was already written that Weyane’s leader, Meles Zenawi, has said: Amhara-Oromo conflict, i.e the historical face-off between Oromo and Amhara, is a unique historical advantage for Weyane to perpetuate its rule. He also said regarding the dialogue between Amhara forces and Oromo fronts within AFD, seemingly rightly, that it is a marriage between “fire and straw (isat ina ciid)”. It is really pity that these two BIG nations live in a conflict against each other just caused by the hitherto ruling class of the empire and by the sponsors of the ruling class aka the European colonizers, the effect being the fate of both nations to live now under the subjugation by minority group of the Tigrean ruling class.
Disregarding the hitherto Abesha ruling class, actually both the Amhara and Oromo peoples were victims of the European colonizers. The main conflict and imbalance of power between the Amharas and Oromos started at the end of 19th century at which time the Europeans had their programm of scramble for Africa. It is said that the French colonizers used to move horizontal between Dakar and Djibouti, whereas the British colonizers’ move was vertical between Cape town and Cairo. These two forces were about to confront each other in the Horn of Africa. To avoid the confrontation the British colonizers had to do their usual manipulation in Africa: choosing one ethnic group as a “superior”, and using it to suppress the others which they consider as the “inferiors”. They told the Amharas that they are “superior” semitics and christians who had to “civilize” the “inferior animist” Oromos and others in the south. They gave them weapons and helped them by giving military advice. So they controlled indirectly the area without confronting the French army. With such manipulation, both the Amharas and the Oromos became victims, since then both are not free. The Amhara rulers being the ex-servants of the British (as suppressors of the Oromos), both the Amharas as a people and the Oromos as the the suppressed subjects were/are still lacking freedom.
Now a days the Tegarus’ ruling class plays similar role as servant of the American imperialists again to suppress the Oromos and of course at the moment the Amharas are as oppressed as the Oromos. Theoretically now there is nothing which can hinder the alliance of the Amhara pro-democracy forces and the Oromo pro-freedom fronts to come together and fight for their freedom and democracy as they attempted in AFD, but still there are practical problems. Both need yet to learn to stop their striving for mere unconditional Ethiopian unity and mere Oromian independence without a union respectively. The Amhara pro-democracy forces pushing for unconditional unity makes the Oromo freedom fighters only to be sceptical for they know what the pro-democracy forces want to achieve with this pretext. At the same time the attempt of some of Oromo freedom fighters to forge independence without giving the possibility for a union and without giving a value for the benefit of a union among neighbouring nations makes the Amhara pro-democracy forces to panic because of their thinking that they will be driven out of Oromia. Such move of certain part of the Oromo freedom fighters seems to be as counter-productive as the vehement wish of the Amhara pro-democracy forces for unconditional unity.
Beside that, Weyanes do manipulate this “difference” between the two BIG nations to creat more discord and make them fight each other. In order to neutralize such deed of Weyane, very important now for the two nations is to concentrate on the common agenda: freedom and democracy. If both of them come to their senses and do rally behind these two ideals, the other two virtues they want to realize aka independent Oromia in an integrated (united) Ethiopia will be fullfilled indirectly. Is this impossible? NO! It is possible if all nations in the empire will be free from tyranny, killing, and looting like what is happening under Weyane now. So our main problem now a days is the lording, killing and looting that all the nations in the empire do suffer under Weyane. The victims from the two BIG nations need to wake up and say together: NO to fascist Weyane!

I strongly believe General Kemal Gelchu will rectify OLF’s misguided policy which is purely based on ethnicity and make it one of the strong transitional party to lay the foundation for building a united Ethiopia. The OLF has been wandering in the political wilderness without a well defined and workable strategy for the part 30+ years. Finally it got a genuine leader who is capable of steering it to the correct path.
