Thousands of Ethiopians rise up to save Waldeba (VOA)

Thousands of people in Gondar region, northern Ethiopia, are marching to save the Waldeba Monastery from the Woyanne junta. The people are armed with rifles and {www:rudimentary} weapons such as axes, knives, sticks and every thing they can get their hands on, according to a priest who spoke with the VOA’s Addisu Abebe today.   3. Somehow, I kind of hear the faint echo of the 17th century anti Catholic popular uprising against Atse Susunyos who vainly tried to convert Ethiopia to the Catholic faith. Many, in their tens and thousands died defending the faith of their fathers and forefathers. The heroic sacrifice of those peasants from Lasta, Fogera, Dembya and etc. preserved the national character of our Orthodox faith, helping inaugurate the brilliant era of Fassiledes and the classic Gondarian period of cultural refinement and sophistication.

    They say, history repeats itself. And, once again, history is itching to do exactly that.

  4. Where are the patriotic fighters? Why they are loosing this opportunity to free Gonder–>Amhara–>Oromija–>debub ==finally==> Ethiopia!

  6. My thoughts and prayers are with the Ethiopian people in Gondar, Afar, Gambela and other parts of Ethiopia who are being abused and killed by a bunch of thieves and courier TPLF criminals. What is going on in Gondar region reminds me of the Bible story of David and Goliath. May the loving God give the Monks, the priests and the peace loving people in Gondar region the courage and strength to fight the Satanic Meles Army that have no respect for the dignity of all human life.

  7. As some of us predicted, the contribution we can make from overseas is very little, but the decisive force comes from the people themselves. The scary thing is that they have no leadership. If this type of opposition continues we will end up like Egypt where every thing is in a mess.

    What I don’t understand is that if the people want to keep their historical sites to be left alone why is it the government objects. Don’t they know that a little fire can lead to bigger one and eventually to their downfall?

    I guess like all dictatorships before them in history they try to suppress it and suppress another one hoping they will put out the fire.

    We can easily tell Change is on its way we don’t know the speed of it but it is coming. All those thousands of our people who lost their lives in the unnecessary wars, those whose jobs was taken away by force and given to the so called “fighters”, others who lost their lands, their freedom, their families, their sons and daughters, the women whose dignity was sold to our Arab enemies who destroyed our country,they will all be remembered when freedom is gained.

  8. There is no other choice left for the Ethiopians. For the last 20 years the woyane tigreans have been killing, raping, chasing,torturing,impreasoning,etc Ethiopians because they are Ethiopians. Now it is time to say “BEKA” and use any weapon they have to chase the woyane Tigreans from power and set up their own government. We have to repeat what has been done in Metema and Gambella in every corner of Ethiopia. Woyanes! your days are numbered.

    The Ethiopian diaspora should echo what is happening inside Ethiopia, AND WE ARE REQUIRED TO BE MORE vocal and resolute than ever before. The fascist woyane must be stopped, we have reached a tipping point, every thing that makes Ethiopia what it is , is being dismantled by the woyane piece by piece.

    The people are being reduced to slavery , BEING DRIVEN AWAY FROM THEIR LAND THEY HAVE LIVED FOR GENERATIONS. The woyane are calling everyone a terrorist and jailing people in masse. Freedom of expression is non existent.

    Inter ethnic and relegious violence incited by the woyane is killing 1000s of people every month.
    Say No more to ethnicist and fascist woyane.
