Founding and senior member of the Ethiopian People’s Patriotic Front (EPPF), Ato Melke Mengiste, in an interview on Sunday with Netsanet LeEthiopia Radio in Washington DC, has expressed concern about the disappearance of Col. Tadese Muluneh, Ato Adane Mekuanent and several other former and current EPPF members.
Ato Melke also held a 3-hour discussion with over 300 Ethiopians at Qale Ethiopian Discussion Forum Sunday afternoon on the issue of the disappeared EPPF member, some of whom have reportedly been executed by Eritrean colonel, Fitsum Yisehak, who has been assigned to advise Ethiopian opposition groups in Eritrea. The discussion also examined cooperation between Ethiopian opposition groups and the government of Eritrea.

There is some thing that makes dictators, tyrants and political gurus, in our part of the world, makes uncomfortable and petrify. The prospect of unified resistance independently run by Ethiopians is a blow to the very fabric and survival of ethnic politics. The enemy knows this full well, and given opportunity it will do any thing in its power to control the life of such a movement .That is why Shabian and Melese agents devout ample time in our forums to frame discussion topics to Ethiopians. The idea of Ethiopian opposition forging possible alliance with Shabia was primarily cooked by joint Shabian and Weyane agents and presented here in our forums as discussion points.

We have seen enough of weyane and Shabian lies and tricks. They can kill our people but it is impossible to kill the spirit of Ethiopians. From Zimbabwe to S, Africa, Tanzania and all the way to Israel we have wide range of field to train our people and transport them to the heart land. Like many keen Eritreans, I have been following all the drama on EPPF and all the rest of it– creative hurabura at that.
Earlier I shared my two cents on one of your controversial posts along that of many of your new cheering crowd who seem to have found therapeutic bashing the organization that has been illusive to the powers of the day. Well, in case yu missed the point, that same organization is now assertively reestablishing its deserved place in the Horn region despite all the challenges it has been facing from the weak and the “strong”.
Over the last ten years while witnessing many ephemeral leaders and personalities fail to stay the course, there has also been exceptional Ethiopians with clear vision working hard and also paying the ultimate sacrifice not only to free Ethiopia from the TPLF fascists but also to lay a solid foundation for future relationship among the peoples of Horn. The rest are just the typical politicians and activists who consciously or not, for opportunistic reasons or otherwise, play the lost game and still think about Ethiopia, in one form or the other, as if nothing has happened in the last forty years, to say the least.
Elias, what else shall we say, as a typical activist of the latter genre, we don’t except much, if not nothing; as such, ‘would only like to express the best wishes in your OTHER endeavors.
You missed an opportunity; it is not about running a popular newsmedia paper or a magazine, but something beyond what the typical Ethiopian activist can do or appreciate-typical in the sense of the Eritrean experience since way beyond out era.

guys I am neither Ethiopian nor Eritrean, I just bumped in to this site by accident and I happened to have been interested in that region’s politics perhaps because part of my ancestry is from that region. from what I understand Ethiopians are naive people who despite what they have been through to keep eritrea as part of ethiopia still don’t seem to understand the core idea of Eritrea and Eritreanism was in fact born out of contempt for Ethiopians and there is no way it would be otherwise. In fact I can safely say the resentment and hatred they have for ethiopia is what they often confuse as ‘Love fore Eritrea’. What has Eritrea offered or do you think will offer them that ethiopia hasn’t offered them? If it is nationalism, it is nationalism for a wrong reason. i guise history(colony)is partly to blame for how they got to that stage (state of mind), but that is the reality..they have always known the fact that Eritrea is nothing without a dead Ethiopia they can feed on, and giving up on that belief is not an option for them..If you don’t know this by now, you will never know it.

He has put the lives of many poor young men who went to Eritrea for eppf at risk. Already like 17 were executed last february, and as much as Elias and his cronies tried to cover or censor it, the news came out. How many other deaths is he trying to hide? I am worried about the many young Ethiopians who are trapped. Elias may be another fat overbeefed cow eating his bigmac in Washington with ability to travel the world but these Ethiopians can’t leave like he can.

I have nothing to add except to say that you have seen the light in the face of the darkness that seem to have clouded the vision & sensibilities of a few of our naive compatriots, concerning Eritreans vis a vis Ethiopia. The sooner every Ethiopian realizes this basic fact, the better.
