Wikileaks.org has released 250,000 classified U.S. diplomatic dispatches on Sunday, which is said to be the biggest intelligence leak in U.S. history. The following are some excerpts from the dispatches that were sent to the State Department by U.S. embassies around the world regarding various leaders.
Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe: A minister in the South African government calls Mugabe “a crazy old man.” U.S. Ambassador Christopher W. Dell writes: “Mugabe is “more clever and more ruthless than any other politician in Zimbabwe… To give the devil his due, he is a brilliant tactician and has long thrived on his ability to abruptly change the rules of the game, radicalize the political dynamic and force everyone else to react to his agenda.” Mugabe also seem to believe that his 18 doctorate degrees give him the authority to suspend the laws of economics, including supply and demand. Ambassador Dell goes on to explain: “The regime has become so used to calling the shots and dictating the pace that the merest stumble panics them. Many local observers have noted that Mugabe is panicked and desperate about hyperinflation at the moment, and hence he’s making mistakes. Possibly fatal mistakes. We need to keep the pressure on in order to keep Mugabe off his game and on his back foot, relying on his own shortcomings to do him in.” He added: “Mugabe and his henchman are like bullies everywhere: if they can intimidate, you they will. But they’re not used to someone standing up to them and fighting back.”

The report, from the US embassy in Tripoli, disclosed that Colonel Gaddafi appeared to be afraid of staying on upper floors and disliked flying over water. He enjoyed horse racing and flamenco dancing and was upset when he was refused permission to pitch his Bedouin tent in New York City.
French President Nicholas Sarkozy: Emperor with no clothes; thin-skinned, authoritarian with a tendency to rebuke his senior team repeatedly for their alleged shortcomings.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel: Avoids risks and is rarely creative.
Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh: Saleh was viewed by U.S. diplomats as “dismissive, bored and impatient” during a meeting he held with John Brennan, a senior adviser to the US President on national security. In a meeting with former American commander in the Middle East General David Petraeus, Saleh reportedly said: “We’ll continue saying the bombs are ours, not yours.”

I am very much interested and cannot wait to read what US thinks of the mentally unstable dictator Meles.
i can not wait to read about what the united states government really thinks about the petty dictator and the so called opposition leaders who parrot what meles tell them to say and do what he wants them to do in order to claim the presence of a democratic system with “legitimate” opposition parties in the country.
Cables obtained by WikiLeaks also shines light on U.S. officials mocking Eritrean authorities as brainless: “The American ambassador to Eritrea reported last year that “Eritrean officials are ignorant or lying” in denying that they were supporting the Shabab, a militant Islamist group in Somalia. The cable then mused about which seemed more likely.”
Weakileak, cables, news etc? So what? Go and get your rifle and try to restore your stolen freedom! Whether weakileaki leaked or unloaded it is their headache! No body want to leave Ethiopia as we wish! It is a real and a heartfelt efforts is required to be free from any bondage-nothing else- Be honest to your people and pay due consideration to basic values and rights of Ethiopians then get united and fight all enemies of humanity around you wherever you get them! NO MORE INFORMATION NEEDED TO BE FREE AS WE ALREADY HAVE ENOUGH OF IT FROM OUR DAY TO DAY LIVES!
Melkam, I agree with you that Ethiopians are not going to gain from WiKileaks, but I have to admit, I am very curios what the world think of the bloody-hand TPLF dictator behind close doors.
By the way, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Wikileak founder, Julian Assange found dead somewhere in the near future. A few years ago, the former British weapon inspector Dr. David Kelly was found dead in the woods somewhere in Britain. Dr. Kelly was in the process of writing an expose about the Weapon of mass distraction that was never found in Iraq.
Fellow Ethiopians, Meles inflicted with cancer or not, we have neither the time for nature to take its course, nor the luxury to wait for five more years for another fake election. The ball is in our court, we just have to learn to play the game as a team.
Mr. Meles & his company have been in power for long, not because they are “mighty or powerful”, but it is due to the fact that some of our “significant players” have no skills or the necessary knowlege to play the game right, as a team. Too often, they like to play their single- group games alone in a dimly- lighted playground with full of holes and without any referees.
Therefore, many of the significant oppositions who can make a difference for Meles’s fast departure are busy not to form a UNITY (and to play the game as a team for the citizens of Ethiopia to win (Liberty, justice, equality under the law, etc), but spend all their time looking for a fight over the rules of engagement. A significant others have been playing the game alone for so long that team playing makes no sense for them & hence happy in not winning the game at all.
The bottom line is our country is being de-constructed so fast that there might reach a point of no returns. Look what the dictator has been doing recently, invading Somalia is not enough, (harming Ethiopians relationship)but now he wants to pick a “fight” with Egypt. Mind you, unless he wants to wipe out our poor citizens his Wayane led army is barely able (corruption & rent seeking) to keep him in power much less to defend the country’s land-locked sovereignty against a semi-industraliized country as Egypt. The sad part is his reference to the patriots who defended our citizens which he has shown no respect before.
There are more dramas in his search to extend his rule, and we do not need some leaks to tell us more about his crime against the citizens of Ethiopia. What we most work 24/7 is to get our significant star players to act & play the game for the Ethiopian citizens to win over their povery and humiliation in the hands of the ethnic minded mifia group led by Meles Zanawi & his company.
