The Eritrean government dismisses Woyanne offer to return Badme as misleading

Posted on

The Eritrean government issued a statement today dismissing Woyanne offer to return Badme as “misleading.” Eritrea rejects Woyanne’s precondition that there must be a dialogue to improve relations before returning the land. Eritreans are saying, just the land, bozos… Read the statement below:

TPLF regime again disseminating misleading statements

Lately, the TPLF regime as usual has been issuing misleading statements as if it has accepted the EEBC ruling without precondition, in a bid to mislead the Ethiopian people and the international community.

However, as clearly spelt out in the message that the regime’s Foreign Minister sent to the President of the UN Security Council on 8 June 2007, apart from the fact that the TPLF stance has only assumed more misleading phrases, there is no change at all in essence. Although, the TPLF regime claimed it had accepted the ruling of 13 April 2002, it is putting forth dialogue as a precondition in the implementation of the Commission’s ruling.

The EEBC ruling of 2002 asserts that the verdict is solely meant to be directly implemented as final and binding. As such the TPLF, in its latest precondition, has rejected the Boundary Commission’s ruling; because delimitation and demarcation constitute inseparable decision of the EEBC ruling.

  1. Congradulations to The Eritrean people and leadership.
They have always been faithful to their unswevering stand. I would like to applaud them. but, be cautious until you see the TPLF decision on the ground. There may be a snare in their statments, given their melancholious nature and crooked personality.

on the other hand, shame to the tigrian people. I hope you do not blame Ethiopians this time. You should ask meles and his friends why they chose to do that. May be, it is time to question their motives for tigray and its people. may be it is time to think of removing them from power.

    Good luck!

  2. er again where do you get the first news that ethiopia give badma to ertria how money times you have to mislead the ethiopian people we know 100% you are with shabia which news we have to believe. the first one is your fabrication.but the one you get from shabit.com is always right for you.that is why i vote last time zero on creditability on your web pol.i r ember the helicopter shot down by somali in 1992 you toled us it is ethiopian helicopter no more full any more.by eliyas

  3. It is a well calculated misleading information comes from the Eritrean side in order to get what they wanted quietly as they have been offered by woyane. The letter from woyane foreign minister is crystal clear. They are accepted to return badme without pre condition. These two evil organizations, TPLF and EPLF, are working together secretly while pretending enemies openly to cheat the people and get what they want at the cost of Ethiopia especially Tigry.
Shabia say they care about Ethiopia, which is not true. TPLF say they love Eritrea, which is true.
Shabia say they dislike woaye as woyane does against shabia which is an open game misleading the people. The different between these two evil organizations is that shabia care about Eritrea while woyane hate very much Ethiopia while they are still ruling her.

People don’t trust what these two evil organizations are saying. Judge them by their actions. After all, who cares about badme while woyane was/is the one payed/ing sacrifices for the sake of Eritrea against Ethiopia. Let say the badme issue is solved. What about the Afar Issue? The afars made clear from the beginning, they will not accept any boarder to divide the AFAR PEOPLE.
This is the big issue will never ever solved unless the afar in Eritrea is united with the afar in Ethiopia. We will see if these two evil organizations (EPLF and TPLF) can get their way as they did in the past with gun and lie.

  4. There is no let up or face saving loop hole for Woyane to maneuver! First it will be humiliated and degraded to the core then it will hand over the land finally its time will come to end! Just look how things are looking bleak for the Woyane to hand over Badme! Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me! Woyane,…After all this Woyanes want to normalize relations with us? Malelit Your time is up!!!

  5. It is unrealistic and false article as Badme is inseparable and lagal Ethiopian territorial land. Please don’t fool your self by deseminating flase information to your readers. As far as we are alive we will not let Badme to be govern by the Eritrean Mad dog ISAIAS AFEWERKI.

  6. It is not badme that eritrea wants. But it is badme woyanne wants to give away as it will eventually be theirs when they go upon completion of task–sucking up the unfortunate land called Ethiopia.
Thank God though that we are yet to witness another transition that would now be for Ethiopia and the Ethiopian people. That time we shall hang them all!!!(woyannen ayargegn)

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Eritrea dismissed Ethiopia’s announcement that it has accepted a U.N. commission’s ruling over a disputed town, saying Friday that Ethiopia attached conditions that undermined the spirit of the decision.

Eritrea gained independence from Ethiopia in 1993 following a 30-year guerrilla war. The Horn of Africa neighbors initially promised to accept the U.N. boundary commission’s 2002 ruling awarding Badme to Eritrea, but Ethiopia has not handed it over.

Both countries claim Badme and fought a bloody 2 1/2-year war after Ethiopian soldiers opened fire on Eritrean soldiers in the border town in 1998. A 2000 truce agreement to cease hostilities has made the border more peaceful, but tensions have occasionally flared to the point that international observers feared a new war could break out.

In a letter last week to the U.N. Security Council, the Ethiopian government said it unconditional accepted the commission’s 2002 decision. However, the letter also said Eritrea must comply fully with the 2000 cease-fire agreement, and called on the Security Council to impose sanctions against Eritrea until it complies.

In its own letter to the council on Friday, Eritrea blamed the Security Council for failing to force Ethiopia to turn over Badme and “encouraging Ethiopia to flout the rule of law.” It claimed Ethiopia also violated the 2000 agreement and urged the Security Council to impose sanctions “to compel Ethiopia to comply.”

“So far as Eritrea is concerned, Ethiopia continues to present conditionalities to the decision of the boundary commission, which is final and binding,” said Amanuel Giorgio, a diplomat at Eritrea’s U.N. Mission.

“It’s asking the Security Council to demand that Eritrea enter into dialogue,” he added. “That means reopening the decision of the boundary commission. Our reading of the letter is that Ethiopia has not yet changed its position.”

Ethiopia’s Foreign Ministry said in a rebuttal posted on its Web site late Friday that the issue is not demarcation of the boundary, but the need comply with the 2000 cease-fire.

  8. WHEN ARE SOME OF YOU WAKE UP AND SEE CLEARLY WHAT’S BEFORE YOUR EYES.
ERITREA BEAT WOYANES IN A AN INTERNATIONAL COURT OF LAW FAIR AND SQUARE.
THE DECISION IS FINAL AND BINDING – (based on woyanes request before the trial.)THEREFORE THE DECISION MUST AND WILL BE IMPLIMENTED AS IS- NO IF’S AND/OR BUT’S.
WOYANE IS SAYING ACCEPTS THE DECISION,BUT LETS NORMALIZE RELATIONS(that’s a precondition thus Woyane has not accepted the decision-simple)
ERITREA IS NOT INTERESTED IN ANY NORMALIZATION OF RELATIONS ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS LAND IS STILL UNDER ILLEGAL OCCUPATION.THEREFORE IT REJECTS ANY OPEN ENDED
    DIALOGE WITH THIS HOPELESS GOVERNMENT.
I WISH YOU ALL HERE BE ABLE TO SEE THE TRUTH FOR WHAT IT IS.
PLEASE PUT ASIDED YOUR NONSENSE ETHIOPIAN GREEDY ATTITUDE ALL YOU WILL LOSE WHAT IS LEFT OF YOUR FAKE, POOR, BEGGAR, SICK COUNTRY.

  9. cisoo, and others,

Tigry being with Eritrea or a separate state is unrealistic. When we say Eritrea most of us think about Tigrigna that are living the most hostile and mountain piece of land in Eritrea. These people have no boarder with the sea. But there are 8 other Ethnic groups with Tigrigna 9 in Eritrea. Behalf Tigrigna the rest are either Muslim or animates. They have no common religion, culture or custom with people living in Tigry. Don’t forget, Tigry has 7 ethnic groups namely Tgryias, Amhara, Afar, tartar, Irob, agew and kunama.

So, forget about Tigry being with Eritrea. That will never happen. Please learn more about Eritrean Ethnic groups and the territory they are living no matter they wish for. As far as Ethiopians, we don
