There is no mystery in the murder of Abiy Bezabih

By Chris Delia

There was a reason. The victim’s full name is Abiy Melesse Bezabih. He used to be the president of International Federation of Banking and Insurance Trade Unions (IFBITU).

Ato Abiy was a passionate champion of the Ethiopian people. He hated the corruption of Meles Zenawi’s dictatorship. They illegally ousted him from the labor union. Threw him in prison for over two years.

After he was released from prison, Ato Abiy continued to speak out against the dictatorship. They arrested him again, detained him for another six weeks. During that period they offered him a high level position in the government if he would side with them. He said, “No I cannot work for you, you are corrupt.” They exiled him, and told him if he ever spoke out against the government they would kill him.

His fear that the Ethiopian Government was well documented:

The Worker member of the United Kingdom joined in the comments made by the Worker members as well as those made by the Worker member of Rwanda. He stated that the Ethiopian Government’s interference with trade union activities had not only extended to control of the national centre of the Central Ethiopian Trade Union (CETU), but also to eight of its affiliates over the past few years. He noted that, since the beginning of 1999, the Government had constantly harassed the International Federation of Banking and Insurance Trade Unions (IFBITU) which was the one remaining affiliate still independent of government influence. In addition, trade unionists allied to IFBITU President Abiy Melesse had been intimidated, harassed and detained, with many having been forced into exile. In 1999, the Ethiopian authorities placed further pressure upon the leadership of the union, marginalizing it in four out of the five institutions where it was organized. Government security forces were deployed to prevent union leaders from entering their offices. Subsequently, illegal trade union elections were held and the new leadership took the union back into the CETU, thereby placing it under government control. He emphasized that IFBITU President Abiy Melesse Bezabih now feared for his life.

He came to America, where he became my friend. He dreamed of a time when Ethiopia would be lead by a real democracy and free from corruption and tribal hatred. He never stopped speaking out against the Ethiopian government.

Just before he died he told me that he believed that the Ethiopian Government was sending people to kill him. He said this to me:

“That’s all right, all they can do is kill me – they can’t change who I am or what I think.”

One day a man, he had not seen for over thirty years flew over a 1000 miles to Washington DC with a 9mm handgun and $3900 in his pocket and put a bullet in Abiy.

There is no mystery for me. Only a hope that you will carry on Abiy’s dream.

  1. Many assassins are hired and are after pro democracy Ethiopians, here in the USA. This case must be followed and pressed hard enough to alert the FBI that the lives of many Ethiopian scholars, political vocals, are at imminent dangers for Ethiopian dictatorial regime have managed to infiltrate United States with Foreign spies and assassins. The dangers Ethiopian Americans are faced are extremely alarming and The Obama administration needs to learn from this case AND begin to deport those criminal woyannes hired assassins soon.

  2. If the story above is correct, which seems credible, there must be a hit operation supported may be even financed by some one or grupe in the ruling party of Ethiopia. This is scarry, Is the assassin from Tigray? Was mr. Bezabih from Tigray too? It woud be helpfull to understand the situation if the writer reveales Mr. Bezabh’s ethnicity. Just curious!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. It doesn’t matter if your tigray or amhara or any other ethnic group, if you are anti- woyane, you could be their target. consequences of woyane’s desperation to stay in power the question is how many people can they silence through violence like this? eyafenu megdel is their modus operandi in ethiopia and now we are seeing it happen in the US. time to stand up and confront this evil regime.

  4. “It woud be helpfull to understand the situation if the writer reveales Mr. Bezabh’s ethnicity.” -Chalachew

I am glad you asked the question. It gives me a chance to answer it as Ato Abiy would have answered it. Ato Abiy and his killer were of the same ethnicity – they were Ethiopian.

“Ethnicity must be stopped because it is very dangerous for the country. After the mentality of ethnicity is removed from the mind, the other problems will be solved” – Abiy Melesse Bezabih

Ato Abiy wrote that to me shortly before he died.

  5. This is not the first time when Woyannes kill people abroad. We will never forget these victims from Munic / Germany, London / UK, and in the US …. Time will tell us how many were downed by these primitives.

    Time

  6. I don’t know how you guys think, it is america if some one kill somebody, they can get him/her soon if not, what about the police and the shirifs, they will be there so, Here is my suggession the woyanes will do what ever they can do but, do they have a chance to do what ever they want to do? I don’t think so, if it happens, I am sur the police will get it, so our suggession is very important, it should be forwarded to the police or sherif department. besides my advice is to follow the information from the law enforcement, otherwise keep in touch with ethiopianreview.com, which is my favourate website.

    thank you

  7. This case needs to be brought to the attention of the FBI. I was expecting this to happen. There are very vocal and violent woyane operatives in the USA. This is violating US’s sovereignity. They will take it seriously. Besides, we know a few woyane agents who are capable of doing things like this. We can give their names. They are very known on cyber and real life. Please, Elias, make extra effort to dig deeper and find out more about this case.

  8. Thank you Elias. This information is very usefull for all of us. Please continue posting such crimes, you will be proud of it soon.My feeling tells me that there are other thousands of Ethiopians secretely and savagely killed by the anti-Ethiopian/evil organisation called TPLF. May Good give us strength to defeat the Evil!!

  9. This is another sad story. May you rest in peace Ato Abiy Melesse.

On the Issue of Woyane operatives outside of Ethiopia, it should be understood by now that the fact Ethiopia had become an ally with the Bush/Blair led coalition on international terrorism had given the opportunity for the Woyane regime to send its specialized agents for training in a few countries as well as receiving training within Ethiopia. In the process they have acquired material and financial assistance, cooperation with US, Canadian and British counterparts, etc… Just imagine the kind of information access the Woyane regime had acquired by planting a few Ethiopian translators within the intelligence community let alone the trainings!

As far as I know, here in Canada, Woyane’s operatives composed mainly from Tigrigna and Haderigna (somali) speaking group of people have a large operational budget and they specialize in electronic surveillance, electronic monitoring and electronic harrassements. The types of electonic harassement they apply can drive anyone to a mental health institution and they are available in the market (This is a very serious issue and if you are actively against the Woyane regime you may want to learn more and get some answers by checking this site http://www.raven1.net/ravindex.htm).

The late Ethiopian Ambassador in Ottawa was well aware of Woyane’s covert activities here in Canada and to some extent in the US but passed away without even bringing the known cases to the RCMP (the equivalent of FBI in Canada). I am surprised that a Woyane operative has to be sent all the way to the USA when they have well trained state sponsored terrorists here in North America.

  10. we should be together to tell in public what happened to our brother, that crooked woyanne never stops to think this way of trans boundary genocide in US and Europe…

  11. the reason why asked about the ethnicity of these people is to see if there is any dots to connect. once we know who we are,I guarantee you we can do something about it. the least we can do is, let the right authority in the US know about it.

  12. THIS IS A SAD STORY WITH A SAD ENDING.STORIES LIKE THIS MAKES ME WONDER ARE WE DIASPORAS JUST TALKING THE TALK BUT NOT WALKING THE WALK?!!I FEEL LIKE HOW ONE MAN WHO FLEW FROM …CAN SNATCH ONE OF OUR HEROES WHILE THE REST OF ARE NOT EVEN AWARE OF IT.CANN’T WE SET UP SOMEKIND OF PROTECTION FOR A PERSON WHO WENT TO ANY LENGTH FOR THE PREVAILING OF JUSTICE AND ACCOUNTABILITY.PUSH COMES TO THE SHOW SOMEBODY LIKE ME SHOULD HAVE EATEN THAT BULLET.HOW MANY OF US HAVE FACED GUNPOINTS AT OUR TAXIS , STORES , NEIGHBORHOODS AND STILL WENT BACK WITHOUT HESITATION?ANBESSA BIYABIR DIR YASIR

  13. Thank you all for you comments. I am sure that Ato Abiy’s 13 year old son will read this and know that his dad was a hero.

We must speak out against this. Acts like this cannot be tolerated. Write to your congress person and ask for a congressional investigation before more innocent people are murdered.

It is the people that carry out these operations that should be afraid. Anyone who has knowledge of these foreign agents working within the United States has both an obligation and a DUTY to inform the FBI.

I leave you with the definition of terrorism found in Title 22 of the United States Code, Section 2656f(d):

The term “terrorism” means premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant (1) targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an audience.

The term “international terrorism” means terrorism involving citizens or the territory of more than one country.

The term “terrorist group” means any group practicing, or that has significant subgroups that practice, international terrorism.
