Peace Conference Labeled Useless
The Prime Minister of the Transitional Government of Ethiopia (TGE) issued a statement labeling Addis Abeba Peace & Reconciliation Conference useless. In a radio broadcast on January 24, the statement described the Conference participants as disgruntled individuals who lost their government jobs.

Responding to the resolution by the Conference that calls for the TG to be disbanded and another inclusive transitional government to be established, the statement explained that the transitional government now in power will step down only after it has accomplished its mission.

The Prime Minister’s statement also sent a warning that the TG will take every necessary measure against any illegal activity.

One of the resolutions passed by the Addis Abeba Conference calls for the establishment of “Peace & Democracy Alternative Forces Council” with main offices in Addis Abeba.

At the Addis Abeba Conference 45 local organizations and 6 from overseas have participated. Also 31 representatives from the diplomatic community were present as observers at the Conference.
