Woyanne sent officials to monitor U.S. elections

The audacious Woyanne regime in Ethiopia sent election observers to monitor this month’s U.S. elections, according to the following news release from its embassies. This must be a sadistic joke on the suffering and subjugated people of Ethiopia by the disgraceful American ambassador in Addis Ababa.

Two senior officials with the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) were recently invited to the United States to observe the country’s Presidential and Congressional elections.

During their stay, NEBE Chairman of the Board Prof. Woyanne Donkey Merga Bekana and Deputy Chairman Dr. Addisu Gebreizabhier took part in a three-day conference sponsored by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), which drew top election officials from more than 60 countries to Washington, D.C.

Prof. Merga and Dr. Addisu met with U.S. election commissioners and discussed cooperation between NEBE and IFES with IFES President and CEO Jean-Pierre Kingsley.

In addition to observing elections in the states of Virginia and Maryland and in the District of Columbia, the Ethiopian officials traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, for meetings at the Carter Center.

    I fail to understand your perservering insistence on labelling people donkeys. by now, it appears that you have lost your bearings. Shame!! Let me remind you of the sing of a civil choire if in case you don’t know it yet: You can disagree without being disagreable. You idea that you can ridicule people by calling them donkey appears hard to swallow as a man who holds my roots in Ethiopia. Ethiopians, except you, are known for their civilty.

    I think this doesn’t take a genius to figure out. It is journalism 101, man!!!

  3. It is surprising. Who knows they may be “changed”c. They may learn something. But more surprising is the way you explained them. Disappointing. I thought ER was edited by “mature ” journalist and the reporters are genuine. But what I see here is the opposite.

Woyanne sending election observers to the US is nothing more than obeying orders of their masters, institutions like IFES are instruments of American imperial power, the Carter center is also one of those institutions who perpetuate fake democracy in third world to justify the installation of puppet regimes around the world, this is nothing new. I like the fact that ER exposed this charade and is letting the Ethiopian people see for themselves the kind of bondage they are in the name of Democracy. Woyanne is a willing player in this cruel game to fool people into believing that the people of Ethiopia are under an American like Democracy. If Ethiopia excercised a pluralist Democracy the US and its allies would cut off any aid to Ethiopia and would embark in destroying its home grown democracy in a New York minute.

    My Ethiopian brothers and sisters; blind obedience to the dictates of big powers will bring nothing to the Ethiopian people except hunger, misery, disease and lack of social and economic progress, the power for self governance is earned through sweat and blood of the people of Ethiopia, not as a grant from neo-colonial powers.

  8. Why you use the humble hard working ‘Donkey’ to express ‘woyane’ rugs. You can use better words and phrases: Woyane sticks, pee, pig etc.

    If Ethio gets a donkey politician, then our problems will start to shrink.

  10. Mr. Elias!! This article made me laugh and laugh and laugh. What a Joke!!! Do they have to come all the way here to learn about fair election process? Why don’t they tell you and me that they need to spend money from the national treasury to come here for holiday shopping. These individuals are supposed to be professors or highly educated intellectuals. It would have been much cheaper to borrow one of the ballot machines and ship it there so more than two people can see it. The rest can be learned from books and publication. Wow!!! What a waste!!!!

    I disagree with you if you believe they should not have been invited…so long as these people are going to keep being election board officials in the tyranical rule in Ethiopia it is the only option that could leed them to question themselves and their conscience about what they do and feel… it is better for them to see what real democracy means.. what a government of the people, by the people and for the people means.. this is their chance to get baptised with love, compassion and trust..i mean if they ever have a ready heart and mind to use this noble chance.. and only then they will start to question themselves what it means and how it feels to mock on the blood of those innocent citizens of Ethiopia who were massacred by the TPLF led government

  15. A person who does not use his mind independently is not better than a donkey. Those people when weyane tells them the sky is green insteade of blue they accept it without any argument. so they deserve to be called donkeys.

  18. The Ethiopian election commission is a tool of the dectatorial regime of Meles Zenawi to rig elections. This fact is known to the whole world except the Bush adminstration. The neo-colonial mentality of the US Ambassador in Ethiopia and IFES will come to an end after 1-30-09. Thanks GOD!
