Protest rally in DC against genocide in Ogaden – Oct 24

Ethiopians in Washington DC will hold a rally in Washington DC at the State Department on Oct. 24, 2008, to protest the atrocities and war crimes that are being committed against the people of Ethiopia by the regime of Tigrean People Liberation Front.

The protest will particularly focus on the genocide in Ogaden and the atrocities in the Oromiya region.

As reported by international human rights groups and media, the Meles regime is systematically eliminating Ogadenis by burning their villages, terrorizing the population, and starvation (read more about war crimes in Ogaden here here).

  1. It is our obligation to defend the defensels ciizens of Ethiopia in Ogaden who have been killed and starved since ONLF attacked a Chinese oil Company more than a year ago.

    The defeat of TPLF’s militia in Somalia will also put our Somalis in Ogaden in big danger of being wiped out from their land as vendetta for the humiliation of Melese in Somalia.

    If we want to create an Ethiopia for all her children to live in peace we should not be indifferent to the suffering of her children like our Ogaden brothers and sisters who are on verge of extinction by anti-Ethiopia ruling clique in Addis Ababa.

    Ogaden is Ethiopian and demands the Diaspora Ethiopians to join hands and condemn Melese Zenawi and his American financiers.

    We have to make it clear to whomever becomes a president of USA in 2009 we Ethiopians demand a new policy rejecting the last sixteen years failed policy in the Horn of Africa for which the people of Ethiopia and Somalia payed a heavy price.

    Let us come and make this rally on coming Friday to be one of the biggest rallies to send a message for those who are behind Melese that they are equally responsible for the suffering of our people in Ogaden.

    It is time to be active as citizen and we should not expect everything to come from opposition groups,we the people can make it happen.

  2. A hand_shake to mr TEDLA ASFAW Great comment, it is refreshing to see the people of ETHIOPIA starting to wake up what the TPLF and its backer are doing in OGADEN as well as the entire ETHIOPIA. THE people of ETHIOPIA MUST UNITE TO DEFEAT THE CANCER IN OUR SOCIETY.

    but doesn’t matter how much meles get halp from usa and uk, it will not help to keep him in power. as long as the ppl of ethiopia they are not happey soon or later will go, i will promise you.
