At the 1960 Olympics in Rome an Ethiopian athlete stunned the world.

He was the first black African to win an Olympic gold medal and he did it without wearing shoes.

  1. The son of the great nation Oromia, Abebe Bikila (Abbabe Biqilaa) had well done at his time. We gravely lost him. Oromiya produced lots of beloved atheletes after Abebe such as Darartu Tulluu, kenenisa Bekele, Tirunesh Dibaba, Meseret Tola, etc. Long live all. Oromia shall be free, soon you will run for Oromia!
