VIDEO: Addis Ababa residents celebrate as Kenenisa wins

(fiftyeight.net) — It was a great spontaneous Ethiopian “Fanfest”. Drivers of trucks, buses and private vehicles joined pedestrians and local residents in cheering their national hero. Traffic came to a complete standstill when hundreds of people gathered at Meskel Square in the center of Addis Ababa to watch the 5000m race Saturday afternoon. The cheering, dancing and clapping increased as Kenenisa Bekele crossed the finishing line, winning the fourth Gold Medal for the East African nation of Ethiopia at the Beijing Olympics 2008. 2. wow endet des yilal … im so proud of our athlets Specially TIRUNESH and Kenenisa …. thats immediatelly remind me of Teddy Afros song that he dedicated to Kenenisa Bekele miskin Tedyy he is locked up now and atleast some one remember him and dedicated the song for him ” Mindinew Gudu” by Hab Engidaw

  3. It is the sprit of the competition, and the dedication of the althlets that up lifts me more than the nationality of the athlets themsselves. There is also an element of rule in all games that is worth to celebrate. Other than than what is it for me if the winner is ethiopian or from azerbajan. After all, pride is personal, and it comes from ones successful action.

  4. ahhh… I can’t wait to go back to that blessed land of Ethiopia. 14 long years of exodus is taking the effect on me… have to wait 2 more years and then im there. God bless the gorgeous people and land of Ethiopia!!!!

    Ethiopia First!!!!
