The Ethiopian Sports Federation in North America (ESFNA) is holding its annual event this week. This year’s event is being held in Atlanta. When ESFNA was formed about 28 years ago, it had a lofty goal of bringing Ethiopians in North America together around sports and cultural activities. Since 2005, however, the organization has been hijacked by the Woyanne junta through their money-man Al Amoudi. Soon, the annual event turned from a family gathering into a pandemonium of thugs and Al Amoudi’s manwhores. In short, it became a source of embarrassment for the Ethiopian communities in N. America.
After being bullied and pushed around by Al Amoudi’s thugs for several years, finally this year ESFNA’s board members started to muster some courage to take back the organization. They, however, are up against a well-financed gang of thugs led by Abinet Gebremeskel, and, to be frank, many of the board members luck the gut to stand up for the right thing.
To provide reinforcement for this gangsters, Abinet flew from Ethiopia recently with a bundle of cash and he is now running around in Atlanta with his bodyguards.
The majority of ESFNA’s board members will hopefully do the right thing and cleanse any Woyanne element from the organization. For example, Abinet and his thugs, must be banned from all ESFNA venues. Until they show the courage to do that, all patriotic Ethiopians need to boycott the ESFNA event that is underway in Atlanta. When it comes to the anti-Ethiopia Woyanne, there must be no compromise.

Elias I was at the Georgia Dome yesterday and I saw very few people. Ethiopians in Atlanta are already boycotting the event. I agree with your point that ESFNA must get rid of Woyannes and its buchiloch.
We all are crying for regime change in Ethiopia. At least let boycott, anything to do with WOYANE. Don’t buy anything from them, boycott Abinet and thugs, Don’t send money thruogh WOYANE affiliated agencies…..
It’s very sad to see the so called board members who have no guts and can’t stand for what is right, allow this well meaning organization be hijaked by Woyane.
It’s no wonder because, I have had a personal interaction over the phone in June 2011 with the so called Public Relations Official, Fasil Abebe. I called to ask him why their website still says that the sponsor is Sheraton Addis. I found out he is the most arrogant and stupid individual I have ever had to talk to. He said “We ( the organization) has a right to accept money from anyone, and that they (the boared members )are not involved in any politics. He said, “Ke felegish memtat tichyalesh, kalfelgish mekret knew”:: After that I realized I will not get anywhere trying to get a sensible answer out of this stupid individual. Before I hung up, I told him the Ethiopian Heritage foundation is now the new ESFNA and we will not need Bandas or weak links such as himself and his fellow board members, in the Ethiopian peoples’s effort to unite to stand up against Alamudi and Woyane.

They managed to subdue all associations like the Ethiopian Trade Union, Teachers Union, and the like which could have at least been provided some form of challenge or resistance to tyranny. Next time put out a call like this out early and if you need help for volunteers to spread a pamplets or the word out you will find some. to late for me in ATL but believe me you will find volunteers that hate woyane thugs everywhere. Ethiopia was known around the world as the only African nation that defeated colonial forces. Our brave ancestors fought tanks and planes with with spears, rocks, etc… to preserve the sovereignty of the nation. Unfortunately, many Ethiopians today have abandoned the spirit of our brave forefathers by placing personal gains ahead of national obligations. Today the likes of Meles and Al Amoudi are shitting all over us and using our own ESFANA to do so. I must say that this generation is an embarassment to coming Ethiopians.

Point well taken bro. Honestly, I am surprised to see your sharp criticism this late. ESFNA has been the home of self-seeking hoodlums for decades. I boycotted ESFNA long time ago. Every year when they have their another round of deplorable gathering, I always protest by giving a nice brake [vacation] to myself and my loved ones (ha, ha). In fact my vacation destinations are much more relaxing, clean, economical and far from their mind droning distasteful event. This is the organization for Hodams and ill informed good for stealing human rear ends for long time. I can’t even think of myself in becoming part of it. There is no limit for their shameful deed then I am not surprised to see them as Woyane’s agents. This is just another new LOW for ESFNA!!!

ESFNA is a child of the Diaspora, which is now a hostage under its servant. Parents have the obligation to have their child free. Parents should not abandon their captive child, and look for alternate to duplicate another one, which will end up in the same fashion. This child ESFNA has to be free by the cooperative force and strength of the parents. The discussion should be directed to enter in to the stadium and demonstrate to demand the immediate step down of the thugs. We have to be fighters for our children, not a by-stander that looks for alternates. Every time we are faced with thugs we back up and look for alternates, and that has to stop. Boycott ESFNA is a cowardly bystander alternate, as we have been experiencing time and again and again, in churches, in communities, etc boycotties are growing, shouldn’t we say stop that!!! lets us walk in together and stop the sold outs …

Your analogy is lame and non start. It is absurd to compare the relationship between a parent and child with relationship between ESFNA & Ethiopians in North America. ESFNA is community based business venture. Its main focus should have been serving the community which it claim to represent or which is core for its survival. If this is not met for obvious reasons, then we should simply dismantle this failed venture and create new one. We live in a free market society and this is the way it needs to be. Extension of Supporting and contributing to an organization that has been corrupted and incompetent is like watching bad movie time after time and expecting different outcome. ESFNA is identified with people who are running its day to day activities. If, these people are infiltrating its basic principles, compromised its direction, and take the ESFNA away from us, then we have to cut their life support (which is your and my money) and disown ESFNA itself. ESFNA has been facilitator venue for the enrichment of few selfish bad apples for long time. You may think of them as “our children” but they are venomous than the snake itself. We as a community had the power to create ESFNA before and we still have the power to boycott & put an end to it now.

Yes i love peace, I use to go to ESFNA event before, just by ignoring what the politicians do or say i didn’t really care but a while a go i stop going to that kind of event because i start to think what they do the ESFNA board members with the money that they make it? what else, put it in to theire pokets.

This comment does not display merit and has no values to the makings of the 28 year old Ethiopians, who have put too much energy to bring it up to here. For the commentator, ESFNA is a business account item, or a venture that could be shut down, if it doesn’t operate right. At another point the comment says the source for the life of ESFNA is the community. My dear Abesha brother, do you fire a manager that is not working right or do you dismantle your organization that maintains the sole purpose. We should never learn to close an institution when its manager fails to operate right. Despite our differences in opinions or vested interests in some covered areas, let us forget what is behind our interests to duplicate ESFNA and try to straighten it, because it is our cultural foot print in North America.
