Ethiopia’s ruling junta ramps up the fear machine

By Yilma Bekele

… within an established totalitarian regime the purpose of propaganda is not to persuade, much less to inform, but to humiliate. From this point of view, propaganda should not approximate to the truth as closely as possible: on the contrary it should do as much violence to it as possible. For by endlessly asserting what is {www:patently} untrue, by making such untruth {www:ubiquitous} and unavoidable, and finally by insisting that everyone publicly {www:acquiesce} in it, the regime displays its power and reduces individuals to nullities. Who can retain his self-respect when, far from defending what he knows to be true, he has to applaud what he knows to be false – not occasionally, as we all do, but for the whole of his adult life?” – Anthony Daniel

That is the capability the Meles regime is trying to build in Ethiopia. Anthony Daniel observed this and other strange behaviors by human beings during his travels inside totalitarian regimes of East Germany, Albania, North Korea and Cuba. The Ethiopian regime is modeled after them. All the above countries were/are economically backward, single party dominated with a sick {www:megalomaniac} in charge and highly armed. Cultivation of fear was their number one industry. The fear administered by these regimes is studied for its effectiveness and meant to strip the individuals of his/her self-respect. To dehumanize the person into submission was the main goal of the totalitarian state.

In Ethiopia the regime has all the tools of coercion at its disposal. The regime is the number one employer in the country. All our cousins rely on the goodwill of the regime. All land belongs to the State, thus ninety percent of Ethiopians live at the whims of the Federal government, the Kilil, all the way to the Kebele level. One false move and it is the end of the world, as they know it. They are victims of engineered fear.

Part Three of the video with ‘Ethiopian Merchants’ was all what the meeting was about. It is the Crown Jewel display of a regime bullying its own citizens that contribute the most. It was to give a public spanking to the people that have been operating under tremendous pressure to eek out a living. It was a moment to emasculate the Ethiopian merchants. We are talking about a breed of people that survived the socialist, military, and ‘strong man’ rule Ethiopia only to be administered a public flogging by The Leader himself. I am sure there are some that take the short cut. They are a few. The biggest and insurmountable threat was coming from the State subsidized, Privately owned {www:conglomerate}s like EFFORT and its offsprings.

Despite all this our merchants were finding ways of going around obstacles and supporting family and friends. Our merchants are our best ambassadors. They travel to the remotest of Chinese villages to get a bargain. These naturally smart people seasoned in the art of trade on international level by sheer determination and drive were declared unnecessary and irrelevant by Ato Meles. He said the regime would rather involve in meaningful development rather than ‘being a soap peddler’ like the merchants. That was said in contempt, which is very sad. I guess we all can’t be Prime Ministers.

The meeting was to humiliate our merchants. Ato Meles was hitting hard. He meant to completely obliterate the middle class. This meeting was the unfurling of his new scheme. His new attempt to copy Wal-Mart and incorporate that success into nation building scheme. I told you he was {www:unconventional}. To go with our new flag, we will have a new name. Welcome to the Federal Democratic Republic of Wal-Opia where the regime ‘buys in bulk, repackage it, determine the profit margin and allow the worthless peasants to distribute it.

Fasten your seat belt; Ato Meles is the driver this time around. Looks like Colonel Mengistu jettisoned off a while back. If you close your eyes, you are excused, no one likes going off a cliff without a parachute. So sorry about that, there is only one parachute in this bus. Hope you enjoyed your final ride.

In Part Three Ato Meles was using the power of his office, the absolute control of Parliament and security under him to bully the merchants into submission. At the end of Part Two He called them common thieves that present false vouchers never to be trusted (7:37) then went into bully mode right away. In Part Three he started off by mentioning the last meeting with the same merchants and remembered it this way:
We assumed that the road from the existing system to the correct system would be a rocky one when we discussed with you earlier, and we agreed on the ‘price set’ I remember the questions some of you asked. You said if this policy does not work what are you going to do next, the question might have been innocent on the other hand it might have hidden messages like we are going to sabotage the price controls so what we are you going to do next. I would say this type of approach does not encourage frank discussions especially if the PM sees ulterior motive behind every question? He said that to lay the ground rules for this meeting. The story he told next is the map of economic activity under the rule of TPLF new and improved formulae.

He said the economic policy he had in place for the last twenty years assumed that by shielding the trade sector from foreign capital our people would accumulate enough capital and move into industry, farming and manufacturing. It did not happen. (1:01) Thus the blame lies on the merchant class for not involving in those activities. He reminded them of what he said before of the possibility of opening the market to foreign competition or the State being forced to participate in the trade sector. Thus due to the sabotage by the merchants against his ‘price control policy’ and the general lack of competition he announced, “we have decided to pick a few main commodities such as Oil, Sugar and Wheat and restructure the system how they are imported. What that means is one central authority purchases for all of Ethiopia and in bulk and we will have several choices to get cheap price in other words like what the Koreans do. (Please note he did not specify which Korea and what exactly they do?) We can buy it unrefined and refine and repackage it here.” (4:14)

Next is where the theory is seen in its practical form. The plan is as elegant as any devised by a committee of academicians sitting in their high tower and equating ants to human activity. You can see the problem a mile away. Looks like he forgets the pesky ugly trait humans possess that is known as ‘free will’ and it never fails to show up. This is what the Great Leader for life said “Upon buying it in bulk we do not want to assume the distribution end of it. We want plenty of distributors and retailers in every town what we don’t want is vertical integration between retailer and distributor. (5:03). It will be done in all the Kilils. We want your cooperation here. In the future we are not going to worry about the price of beer here and meat over there we want to make a fundamental solution. (9:03). We want to start slow and include all commodities.”

The Ethiopian government just declared a section of its most vibrant and creative citizens irrelevant. This is not the first time. Ato Meles and company have this nasty habit of taking a section of society and making an enemy out of. There was a time when Ato Meles declared University professors unnecessary. The best and experienced were fired. We kept quiet. Independent Trade Unions were deemed superfluous and leaders like Ato Assefa Maru were fatally shot in public. We turned a blind eye. Political Parties not organized by TPLF were seen as the enemy and Ato Meles used state power to murder leaders (Professor Asrat Woldeyes) Imprison elected leaders (Kinijit) jail leader of an opposition Party (Judge Bertukan Mideksa) disrupt (All Ethiopia, OFDM, OPC, Andenet) and we turned our face away. Independent News Paper editors, publishers, reporters and even street venders were systematically eliminated and we betrayed all by our silence.

Is there room for optimism here? Do you think our bosses found the secret formula to grow our economy and usher in a period of peace and harmony? You know the answer. If it has not borne fruit in twenty years it is not going to happen even if you give it additional hundred years. I am not being a naysayer, just realistic. There comes a time where you swallow your pride and admit defeat and get out of the way. That time has arrived. Ato Meles and company were given a clean sheet and given the power and authority to draw any picture they wanted. There was no opposition, no organized force to stop them and no external enemy to threaten them.

When you consider Meles and company never have any experience running a little kiosk let alone a national economy there is no surprise for that uneasy feeling we all have. There is one thing al the TPLF leaders have in common before they assumed power. They never had a bank account, they have never worked for wages, and they have never paid rent, bought a car, shopped for insurance or received utility bills. All their knowledge comes from theory not real life experience. There is no substitute for actual experience.

When Ato Meles speaks of being a distributor of oil and sugar and when he talks about vertical integration and stuff you know it all came from books, not real life situation. The fact of the matter is Wal-Mart is successful because it is driven by purely personal interest. The central motive is making a profit. Wal-Mart faced competition and relied on the creative potential of the founder and his associates to build such a colossal successful enterprise. It is testimonial to the power of the individual to excel when given the chance. Cadres are not capable of understand that fact.

The Ethiopian people are under tremendous pressure. The Meles regime has used the last twenty years to sharpen its weapons of coercion. They might have failed in growing the economy but they have excelled in constructing a prison that passes itself as a country. They might not have enough books for our children, they might not have medicine for our sick, they might not have enough food in storage for our people, they might not have enough teachers, doctors and other professionals to make our peoples life better but they have the best army fully equipped, they have the best security force that is embedded in every house hold and even have the latest and fastest computers to spy on, collect information and intimidate the population.

That is in Ethiopia. How about outside? What is the situation with those that escaped from this national jail? Have they managed to conquer the fear? What do you think? I am asking you my reader, yes, you! Are you afraid of Ato Meles? Shouldn’t distance from the source of fear relieve us of some of that anxiety? I see, you claim you are not afraid. Good, I will take your word for it. But I got a question for you. Now tell me when Ato Meles and company are abusing your cousins, squandering your wealth, exposing your parents to famine and starvation, exiling the young and able how did you respond? Did you say hold on a minute this does not sound right?

Some did. A vast majority of us choose the road of see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil. Why? Because Fear cannot be wished away. Fear has become part of our persona. Fear of authority, fear of elders and the tendency to conform is a sickness we are unable to overcome. Most of us are aware that the current regime under the TPLF is not the way out. We all talk of the incoming apocalypse. We are always predicting civil war, internal strife, bloodshed around the corner and implosion from inside. What is so curious is that most of us are not willing to do what is necessary to avoid this horrible scenario unfolding in front of us. May be it will be a good idea if we take the time to self analyze and find the reason for this self-destructive behavior.

It is not true that the individual is helpless to do anything about it. That is a cover we give our self to avoid responsibility. As it is said not a single raindrop will admit to be the cause of the flood. The same with us, we might think our individual action is insignificant in the scheme of things but how wrong we are. It is our individual action that empowers the tyrant, plus you can only answer for your actions not for mine, so what do you say fellow country person? Are you contributing to your liberation or slavery?

The last few days we are really happy that Secretary of State Clinton told the AU and Ato Meles about the importance of Democracy. I am very happy. But why do I get this feeling that her words do not match her deeds? Isn’t Ato Meles coddled and propped up by our foreign friends? Who trains and equips his army, who grants him loans from World Bank and IMF, who lets him sit with elected leaders in International settings, who bestows legitimacy on him? So tell me what is all this excitement about?

I understand now. It is that old habit of wishing others to do the dirty job for us. It is that dysfunctional tendency we have acquired to outsource the liberation struggle. It is not going to work. It has been tried for the last twenty years with nothing to show for it. Looks like the burden is on us again. May be it is about time we do some growing up and face responsibility? May be it is about time we cut out this pretension and stand up to be counted. No one can force you to do the right thing. No one can make you see the light. No one can help you regain your self-esteem. It is one thing to play dead, what I don’t understand is this tendency we have to feverishly oppose even those that are trying to stand up for our rights.

“…It is one thing to play dead, what I don’t understand is this tendency we have to feverishly oppose even those that are trying to stand up for our rights.” Hmm…

The tyrannical tplf dictatorship is directly and indirectly at work day and night with all the monopoly powers it possess in the areas of politics, military and civilian bureaucracies, economic resources, national and internal social and propaganda networks of misinformation as well as dividing by playing on the long standing minor antipathies among Ethiopians. There is no short cut to struggle and win other than forming genuine unity of purpose and daringly go and take back our stolen dignity in all of its multiple variations. Thinking within the same old box and walking in circles just like the last 20 long years will not help us to see the kind changes promptly and easily brought about by the young Tunisians, Egyptians and the othet ongoing active human struggles.

    CHANGE IS WHAT WE NEED!
    YES WE CAN! :)

“There is no such thing as a little freedom. Either you are all free, or you are not free.”

    ~Walter Cronkite stated. :)

  2. True, true and true. Yes Ethiopia is controlled by thugs and thives. The whole world knows that. Now the question is why we expecting anything from anyone? No one has ever gave freedom to any one. It must come from withen.

  3. መቼም ቢሆን መረዳት ያለብን ነገር ከበስተጀርባ ያሉት እነማን ናቸው ምንስ እየሰሩ ነዉ ለምንስ ይህን ድብብቆሽ ፈለጉት የሚሉትንና የመሳሰሉትን ስንጠይቅ ‘THEY’ have already assumed that we have sold ”IT” and NO MORE NEED and ”WILL” to have ”IT” back! Nauseating Hypocrisy killed us!

  4. The author of the article condemns the speaker – Meles Seitanawi (Zenawi) – and praises the audiences – the poor Ethiopian merchants. He gives us vividly the short exchanges of words between the frightened merchants and the domineering tyrannical Meles. More than anything else, the author worries for how long the Ethiopians are going to manage their daily businesses in fear, in hiding, in isolation, in diffidence, and in timidity.

Indeed, fear that emanates from inside of Meles’ brains has ruled the Ethiopian people since his ascendancy to power. In fact, the fear the Ethiopian people experienced during Mengistu Haile Mariam was not different from the fear they have now experiencing in a large scale, every day of their lives. The fear they encountered at the time His Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie was in power was a fear based on respect, love, admiration, self assurance, and confidence in him. Then merchants were free to do whatever they wanted to do on their merchandises; farmers were free to do anything they wanted on their farm products; university professors were free to teach their students whatever lessons they had prepared for their students, and Ethiopian journalists were not harassed, picked up from their homes or work areas and sent to jail on regular basis as the Woyanne government has been doing now for the last twenty years.

The author is right most Ethiopians are “victims of engineered fear,” and the architect of this fear, this intimidation, this harassment, this persecution, this bullying, and this dehumanization is nobody else but Meles Seitanawi (Zenawi). It is this type of fear that has squeezed the Ethiopian people into a corner as a frightened animal where there is no way out. In fear they work; in fear they worship; in fear and tear they eat their tiny bread; in fear they go to bed, and in fear they wake up. Therefore, fear has become their daily shepherd that takes them out and brings them in.

In Ethiopia there is no normal life that is not tainted with fear; for example, when a farmer takes his products to the market, he fears the government officials may come and take his products at the lowest price value, and it is the same thing with the merchants and even with the house keepers who clean in fear the Meles and his wife’s palace that they may lose their job for a suspicion they may have a contact with the opposition group. Mostly, I suspect, Meles’ housekeepers are Tegaru whom Meles and his wife trust more than the other Ethiopian tribes.

Generally, I hope, the author will agree with me, fear controls the parliament; fear controls the Tegaru army; fear controls, the merchants, the farmers, the university professors, and even the Churches and the Mosques in Ethiopia under Meles Seitanawi (Zenawi).

The author believes “…the regime has all the tools of coercion at his disposal,” and these tools are the following: the regime is an employer, land owner, land lord, price fixer, commander-in-chief of the Tegaru Army, and the high official of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church.

As an employer, Meles has the authority to hire and to fire any person whom he thinks that person is worthy or unworthy. As a land owner, Meles has the power to sell millions of acres of Ethiopian land to foreigners as he has already done. As a land lord, Meles can rent any government building to any person whom he likes at any price, and he can evict the renter if the renter does not pay the rent to the land lord, Meles, on time. As a price fixer, any merchant or any farmer in Ethiopian cannot sell his merchandise or farm product at a price the merchant or the farmer himself has fixed. Meles, the price fixer, has the authority to fix a price on any commodities brought to the Ethiopian market. As a Commander in-chief of the Tegaru Army, Meles, not the Parliament, has the power to declare war either on Somalia or Eritrea at any time without the approval of the rubber stamp of the Ethiopian Parliament as far as he sees the green light from Washington, and as a high official of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church, Meles Seitanawi (Zenawi) can appoint a patriarch of his own liking, not what the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church Synodes say.

All his appointees must fear Meles but not respect or love him; therefore, a government of fear subjugates 80 million Ethiopians, and no one so far has come forward from these 80 million Ethiopians and challenged Meles fearlessly. All of us who live at home and abroad are scared of Meles, and despite of all the killings most of us witnessed when Meles committed them, we simply, as the author said, “turned a blind eye,” and took “our faces away.” And our silence to the unjustified killings, persecutions, intimidations, and imprisonments of our brothers and sisters indicates we have totally betrayed them.

Surprised by our silence to the sufferings of the Ethiopian people, the author asks: “Are you afraid of Meles even though you are living out side of Ethiopia?” However, I will ask the author the following question: “Is there any body that is not afraid of a mad dog or a sexually transmitted disease such as Aids? Meles is indeed to be feared more than a mad dog or Aids; because of his madness when he lost the 2005 national election, he then ordered his death squad to shoot and kill innocent Ethiopians during day time.

Nevertheless, the author believes, despite of their constant fears, the Ethiopian farmers have not yet stopped producing farm products, and the Ethiopian merchants have not stopped traveling oversea and bringing new products to their country. But, I say, they don’t have love or confidence in their government; what they have is fear; however, the Holy Scripture tells us about fear and love this way: “There is no fear where love exists. Rather, perfect love banishes fear, for fear involves punishment, and the person who lives in fear has not been perfected in love” (1st John 4:18). Historically, the Ethiopian people are friendly and loving people, but since Meles assumed power, he has taught them not love but fear; he has taught them tribalism not nationalism; he has identified himself as a Tigrean not as an Ethiopian; therefore, he has confused them forever, and their confusion or bewilderment has helped him to stay in power for twenty years and more.

  5. I don’t think the Ethiopian people really know the enemy theya re against with. This is even true of those who believe are waging war against the adversary. Not only the adversary came to rob, loot, and humilate but has a sadistic relish to bring about the fighting spirit of our citizens to the knee. The weyane elite, time and again has demonstrated they have a fittish desire to inflict pain and humilation upon the innocent.Just to mention some of the means and artifacts employed by ruling elite to bring about the national humilation. The rewriting of our history by their psudo-historians that come out from mega publications, the illegal inappropration of firtile land from Wello and Gondar to Tigray, the ceeding of 1500 kilo meter long by 50 killo meter land mass to the Sudan, the mindless land sell of the South western Ethiopia to weyane strategical allies of the Gulf pan Arab states. To make matter worse the natives of Ethiopians are repeatedly told to shut up and follow or else they have no part in the affair of their nation-here is your servitude in a nut shell, long worked out by the two stools of the house of Hamassen and Adwa.

Here is the partial profile of a Psychopath as represented by James Fallon, Ph.D. (Psychology Today)as it posted by Addis Voice. If you want to read the entire articl see the link below.

    http://addisvoice.com/2011/06/the-mind-of-meles-zenawi/

1-“So, what binds dictators across history and geography? What traits do they share? To begin with, let’s examine the general characteristics of psychopaths. They are usually charming, charismatic, and intelligent. They brim with self-confidence and independence, and exude sexual energy. They are also extremely self-absorbed, masterful liars, compassionless, often sadistic, and possess a boundless appetite for power. These are just a few of the character traits present in a genuine psychopath.

2-”Another source gives the following behavior as syptomatic characterstics of psychopathic personality.

“The study of the psychopath reveals an individual who is incapable of feeling guilt, remorse or empathy for their actions. They are generally cunning, manipulative and know the difference between right and wrong but dismiss it as applying to them.
They are incapable of normal emotions such as love, generally react without considering the consequences of their actions and show extreme egocentric behavior

Perhaps thefollowing is the most extensive and complete profile of the psychopath/sociaopath.

3-A number of mind-controlling cult leaders may exhibit many of the behavioral characteristics of a sociopath–an outstanding ability to charm and seduce followers. Since they appear apparently normal, they are not easily recognizable as deviant or disturbed. Although only a trained professional can make a diagnosis of whether or not someone is a sociopath, it is important to be able to recognize the personality type in order to avoid further abuse. These traits also apply to a one-on-one cultic relationship.

    Glibness/Superficial Charm
Language can be used without effort by them to confuse and convince their audience. Captivating storytellers that exude self-confidence, they can spin a web that intrigues others. Since they are persuasive, they have the capacity to destroy their critics verbally or emotionally.

    Manipulative and Conning
They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They dominate and humiliate their victims.

    Grandiose Sense of Self
Feels entitled to certain things as “their right.” Craves adulation and attendance. Must be the center of attention with their own fantasies as the “spokesman for God,” “enlightened,” “leader of humankind,” etc. Creates an us-versus-them mentality

    Pathological Lying
Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and able to pass lie detector tests.

Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.

    Shallow Emotions
When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion, it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.

    Incapacity for Love
While they talk about “God’s love” they are unable to give or receive it. Since they do not believe in the genuineness of their followers’ love, they are very harsh in testing it from their devotees and expect them to feel guilt for their failings. Expects unconditional surrender.

    Need for Stimulation
Living on the edge, yet testing the beliefs of their followers with bizarre rules, punishments and behaviors. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal.

    Callousness/Lack of Empathy
Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others’ feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them. Their skills are used to exploit, abuse and exert power. Since the follower cannot believe their leader would callously hurt them, they rationalize the behavior as necessary for their (or the group’s) own “good” and deny the abuse. When devotees become aware of the exploitation it feels like a “spiritual rape” to them.

    Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature
Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others. The followers only see them as near perfect.

    Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency
Usually has a history of behavioral and academic difficulties, yet “gets by” by conning others. Problems in making and keeping friends; aberrant behaviors such as cruelty to people or animals, stealing, etc.

    Irresponsibility/Unreliability
Not concerned about wrecking others’ lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blame their followers or others outside their group. Blame reinforces passivity and obedience and produces guilt, shame, terror and conformity in the followers.

    Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity
Totalist leaders frequently practice promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts. This is usually kept hidden from all but the inner circle. Stringent sexual control of their followers, such as forced breakups and divorces, removal of children from parents, rules for dating, etc.

Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle
Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future. Many groups claim as their goal world-domination or other utopian promises. Great contrast between the leader’s opulent lifestyle and the followers’ impoverishment. Support by gifts and donations from the followers who are pressured to give through fear and guilt. Highly sensitive to their own pain and health.

    Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility
Changes their image and that of the group as needed to avoid prosecution and to increase income and to recruit a range of members. Is able to adapt or relocate as needed to preserve the group. Can resurface later with a new name, a new front group and a new twist on the scam.

We have in Ethiopia a narcissistic, egomaniac, and megalomaniac Luna loose. Perhaps we have talked about him this many years for too long, but have done too little to cure the cancer. It is time the power brokers in Ethiopia the Oromos and Amharas sit together and hammer out their differences and plan out a common course for their country. Not just a lip service but they must reach a consensus how to run the future Ethiopia, in a way where the two people harmoniously lead their nation to the challenge ahead. Once such agreement is reached the weyane elite will be a target for HOYAHOYE where ever they are. We need a reconstruction of Ethiopia on the basis of common solidarity between Oromos and Amharas. There will be some Tigrians who will come to the side of Ethiopia to support the above reconstruction plan, but not very many. We need to annihilate the Hamassen and Weyane guile confederacy that are working day and night for Ethiopia’s destruction. Why are people afraid to speak the objective truth? This is the truth. If I may borrow Billy Joe’s lyrics, “WE didn’t start the Fire”. They are the one who start deconstructing Ethiopia on the basis of their Hamassen and Adwa family tree. Ethiopians need to rise and send the guglie to their habitat. Unfortunately, some are in the blame game of the west –this is none other than a psychological cop out. If Ethiopians stand organized there is no power to save weyane elite from its destruction. The key here is first knowing your enemy, these maen are here to humiliate and destroy you as anindividual and as a nation. Get mad, organize, and take a stand. This is the proper response to the solution. Talk divorced from practical action is,indeed, very cheap, if that is the only thing we can master up we might as well zip.

  6. Ato Yilma Bekele has finally come up with a good article. This one is biting and it corresponds to reality on the ground in Ethiopia.

Especially the quoted first paragraph fits the Ethiopian condition to a T.

  7. # Assta B. Gettu

Oh dear! dear! You are singing the old songs in vain. Your narrow minded ideology will go nowhere as you seem to erase the large numbers of Ethnic groups their existence.

Do you think Ethiopia is only belongs to Oromos and Amharas and the power brokers in Ethiopia are only the Oromos and Amharas? What a shallow minded you are.

It is about time to recognise that this kind of blind thinking and idiotic thought of yours has no place in the modern world. You are still living in past.

  8. Dear Ato Yilma Bekele and followers

You wrote a piece of essay that looks convincing. You seem to express your bitter disappointments about your recent failed campaign (i.e. May 28) and blaming the US Secretary of State for nothing while you are living comfortably in the USA. You are so ungrateful to the people of United State and other Western countries which gave a roof on your heads and sanctuary.

The Ethiopian people aren’t interested in civil unrest. We had enough of it during the Derg. I bet you might be one of the remnants of the Derg regime.

Do yourself a favour for once no one is listening to vile and unhelpful political opinions. You are singing in an empty theatre.

  9. Thank you so much Yilma. Please, do not give him a single Value to this Ediot Meles but yes, it is good to expose his dirty job on Ethiopian People until the History repeat it self. Thank you! G.W.

  10. No one finds the word Amhara or Oromo on my comment #5; therefore, why is this lost and confused creature, Gebre $8 talking about? The readers, I am certain, will judge him as a simple-minded and empty-head person. He owes me a sincere apology!
