Taxi drivers in Ethiopia go on strike

Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa is hit with a work stoppage by taxi drivers today. Most taxi drivers have stayed home this morning, causing a massive transportation disruption in the city. Many residents are observed walking to work. The taxi drivers are protesting the unbearable cost of living and a recent regulation that limits them to certain areas of the city.

It is about time Ethiopians stand up for their own rights and stop the madness of the home grown terrorists and their leader tyrant Crime Minister Meles Setenawi. Let’s hope and pray that the rest of Ethiopians stand with the Ethiopian Taxi Drivers and say in one voice BEKA to TPLF Dictatorship and tyranny.

More and more Ethiopians are saying Beka and the end of fascism in Ethiopia is in sight. The Nile Dam which is inserted into the political discourse to divert and derail the popular uprising is not working as the TPLF ethnic fascists have planned.

  26. my advice to Ethiopians is don’t do it in a scatered manner like the 2005 post election in which different school students revolting in different days, which makes it easy for meles zenawi tugs to attack you separetly. so the effective way is to do it all (rise) at the same time.
    taxi drivers,teachers,students,street vedors and workers in every sectors must rise at the same time.

  33. considering that we do not have refinery, a port and no major export the price oil I think is OK , It can be a bit lower.
    But how can we subsidize it , should we subsidize petrol? I doubt Diesel I agree
    A barrel is 98.9 today in international market
    in Addis it is 20.94 birr,
    comparing it to the other neighboring countries it is ok , I know also the country is poor
    we are in problem ,

  42. I don’t think anu one will be happy to see uprising in our beloved country. I want Melese to resign now, but we need to stop relating Melese to Tigray. That is why Melese and Esyas sccuceded to alinates Oromo from Amara, and helped Melese and his group to still conrol the country. I hope soon their end will come.

  44. There is no aligned and organized movement and do not even think that there will be any thing coming out of this. As some sane people have said before, as long as the good people are not getting their way to the front and as long as the hooligans are not pushed to the back, there is no any type of ground for mass revolt. Wake up and smell the coffee, it is the middle class professors, economists, doctors and engineers that are organized and aligned who will bring a real revolutions. “Doctor tebyew afihin ziga” type of attitude will if any thing bring a mengistu like leader and nothing better. Hierarchal tradition needs to be nourished. Respect among Ethiopians is a lost case and unless we revive that, if any thing Samuel Doe types of people will always take over. That is even if it happens but will never happen. Lets walk the walk and not the talk.
