Just a few months ago and for 20 years before that, Meles Zenawi and his ethnic apartheid junta have been taking the side of Egypt when it comes to Abay (Nile River). In fact, shortly after Meles came to power in 1991 with the help of Egypt, he flew to Cairo to sign a secret agreement with Mubarak (see here) that strips Ethiopia’s claim.

1) As of August 22, 2010, 7 months ago, EEPCO’s 5-year-plan did not include Nile River, according to an EEPCO official (read here).
2) When the north Africa and Middle East popular uprisings broke out, the state-run Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPC) revised its 5-year plan to include Nile basin projects as part of the Woyanne so-called “Growth and Transformation Plan” (GTP). (see here)
This is one more proof that Meles and his propaganda chief Bereket Simon concocted the Abay dam idea in a desperate attempt to divert the public attention from saying BEKA (enough) to 20 years of dictatorship and misrule. The people of Ethiopia have had enough of Meles-Bereket’s lies for the past 20 years. What we Ethiopians need is freedom, not fake plans by a gang of proven thieves, rapists and murderers. For Ethiopians trusting the Nile issue with Meles is like some one trusting his daughter with a rapist. (see EEPC’s five-year-plan here. It doesn’t mention Abay.)

Why I don’t invest in the “Great Millennium Dam”.
1. There is no Constitutional and Legal protection for my investment
in current day Ethiopia. The State (TPLF/EPRDF) has shown in the
last twenty years that it can take, size, robe, and sell citizens’
money, businesses, … and real properties. As it has done to
others, it has the capacity to concoct phoney crimes and take my
investments.
2. The State (TPLF/EPRDF) is directly involved in businesses (EFFORT)
and has given control and monopoly of all large scale investment
management to its companies. It has shown that it will not allow
free and fair business competition by imprisoning their owners and
taking over their businesses. Its motto is “all profitable
businesses and investments should belong to the party”.
3. There is corruption at every level of the State and the Government
bureaucracy making all businesses and investments very risky,
unprofitable, and short lived. These for sure will affect not only
the new venture but also all investments and investors.
4. Because there is no rule of law and democratic governance the
stability, survival, and profitability any type of business and
investments in Ethiopia have become very risky, unsustainable, and
unstable. I don’t want to invest in a very volatile and extremely
risky environment. That is the ABC of investing.
5. Because of the rampant and uncontrollable inflation rate of 25%
and exchange rate of Birr18 any hope of profit or positive return
rate on investments is none existent and exceedingly certain that
it will wipe out investments. I don’t want to invest knowing I am
going to loss.
6. The location of the project is not at all sustainable from the
perspective of security as it can be destroyed very easily during
or after completion by people and governments that see its
operation will affect the survival of people in downstream
countries.
7. From the perspective of strategy, the current day Ethiopia under
TPLF/EPRDF is not prepared nor capable to guarantee the security
and safety of the project. The upstream countries especially Egypt
takes the project as a direct threat to the very survival of its
citizens. Egypt has the capability to destroy not only this
project but any other project that infringe on the life and
survival of its citizens.
Finally, the “Great Millennium Dam” will be built after the Ethiopian people extricate themselves from the racist, murderous, narrow minded, and treasonous Woyane/TPLF junta. The dam will be built after Ethiopians have established the rule of law, democratic governance, and a constitution that honours Ethiopians as individuals and as a people. It will be built in a strategic and viable location. Of course, we will have our own port, navy, and national army capable of defending the Country from any quarter, protecting the rights of its people, and a military that abide by the Constitution. No leader, party, army, or police will be above the law of the land and the Constitution of the Country. The days of political deceits, lies, manipulations, and Machiavellian criminal orgies will be over and will have no place. This is the Ethiopia that is viable, sustainable, developing, and a place where all Ethiopians are treated equal. Yes, it is a place where all Ethiopians will be proud off to call home.

Meles just pulled this stunt from his rear end :) Now I know for sure Weyane is really nervous. I mean it. This confirms all the doubts I ever had. It just shows how weak and scared they are. Ethiopians please, this is the time to come together OLF, ONLF , G7 should form a united front ASAP like yesterday. They need to announce at least a couple of weeks before May 20th to galvanize the people. As I see it now, it does not take much to kick weyane out of the Menlik Palace. Just like the GTP, Nile Dam…etc the Eritrean Card is another woyane’s desparate propaganda stunt as well. ofcourse, as tatek (#1 above) said every thing will be buit in a good mutual and peaceful sprit after woyane gone and so do the port issue.

Elias you are always my hero and smart in presenting facts with ample evidences though very rarely you fabricate some. I have a strong desire to see Ethiopia in peace and harmony and on the path of development.
However, current pip—pip of the gov about the current Abay dam project idea is something that came overnight as it was not included in the Five year plan by EEPC and it is an excellent point to argue.
I think you can send this document to the VOA and they may ask for clarification from the EEPC officers in Addis.

I visit Ethiopia regularly and make first hand observation of the growing misery and suffering of the ordinary Ethiopians. The propaganda of the TPLF fascists and their Hodam servants can not hide the sad reality in our country.
Woyane already planned it well that if the Ethiopian people put their money to build the Dam then they will ralley with Woyane if any opposition try to attack Woyane to protect their investment. When it comes to the right of the people and country time will tell if the people who invest will go for the money or for the country.
Weyane would have been done long time a go if we did not have people like Solomon hodamu, who can sell their soul for a little bit of money. Second, as Azeb predicted, Meles came up with a brillinat idea “Great Milenium Dum (GMD)” (Great Meles Deception or GMD), every body in the TPLF junta jumped, claped and huged each other, they were facinated with the idea. Azeb said, I knew that Meles would come with a brilliant idea, as I have said it before Meles has brains, he is the smartest leader in Africa.
And Meles declared to the Ethiopian people, in the Nile, I will build you the bigest dam in Africa. Then the Ethiopian people said, for now, we are not interested on building a dam we have priorities,such as democracy, freedom of speach, freedom of assembley, ethnic equality, power sharing and peace in the horn. First of all one ethinic group rule/power, corruption, killings and arrests of innocent people must end, then the Ehiopian people will build not only 10 dams but 1000 of dams in every village.
Then the woyyane failed in all subjects so far. And it is highly unlikely for a student to pass a class when he fails in all subjects the first semester. Final exam is waiting for them in May 28, I don’t know with what idea they will come up until then. I think they haven’t got the Message “Beka” yet.
As they have the right to paint their doors with whatever color they want, all the people in Ethiopia must paint the outer side of their doors with the Beka slogan. Beka! Beka! Beka!
