Protests called in Zimbabwe, Gabon, Cameroon, Mauritania

The Washington Post and New York Times are reporting that anti-dictatorship protests in north Africa are spreading south.

* Anti-government demonstrations, which have spread across Northern Africa, seem to have moved across the rest of the continent to Cameroon, Gabon, Zimbabwe and Mauritania. In Cameroon, protests have been called for Wednesday to demand the ouster of President Paul Biya, CNN reports. Biya has ruled the country for 28 years. The main opposition leader, Kah Walla, told CNN that his group wants to see free and fair elections. – Melissa Bell, Washington Post

* The democracy uprising is spreading to new parts of Africa: Cameroon, Gabon, Zimbabwe, Mauritania. Nicholas Kristo, New York Times

* Activists meet in Zimbabwe to discuss the implications of Egypt and Tunisia and end up arrested. Mugabe did not learn the right lessons. – Philip J. Crowley, U.S. Department of State

* Opposition groups gain ground in Libya. They are claiming victory in Misurata, a provincial center 130 miles east of the capital, in another indication that the rebellion was encroaching on cities closer to Colonel Qaddafi’s stronghold of Tripoli. In the southern city of Sabha, considered a Qaddafi stronghold, large protests were also reported. – New York Times

  1. The genie is out of the bottle. Where is the hiding place for this goon from Dedebit and his ‘Rotsmella’ harem partner? He may go to work for The World Bank or IMF or some European consulting firm ties with Mr. Blair or Mrs. Merkel. Bon Voyage cactus-gulping communist thug!!!

  2. What are we waiting for?

    Let me start it.

    Aremeney Meles Ethiopian melis.
    Gebtonal gebtonal
    Aremeneyeneteh
    Aremeny selehonk
    Min yitebeseleh?

  3. The time has come for Legese & Company to pack their bags and leave Addis ……the sooner the better. The idea of fighting against its own people with Agazi-look alike sharp shooters and helicopter gunships have not worked out even for the Dictator Gahdfi let alone for our small time dictator-wonnabie Meles Zanawai & others who depend on Western handouts for survival.

Let this be a good lesson for African tyrants to leave town without blood-shed so that a transition to democracy …and the rule of law…. leading to free, open & fair elections & the building of new institutions which will allow for writing a new constitution, freedom of speach, association & equality under the law of the land for all citizens of Ethiopia & Africa in general can be a reality.

The time has come for change & dictators must be removed from the African land scape by any means necessary.

God Bless Ethiopia & let the river of change comes to the source of the mighty NILE!

  4. There should be demonstrations all over the world against dictators. The world is one,no more dictatorship,it is over. The young generation needs freedom and democracy, and dictators who have been in power through out their lif have to give a chance to the coming generation to rule,it is the youth’s turn now.
Sudan,Ethiopia and Eritrea are in line, big demonstration is expected in East Africa in the near future.
