Every thing in Ethiopia is being pillaged, plundered, looted and destroyed by the gang of thugs that is currently ruling Ethiopia. After carrying out a genocidal war in Gambela [read here], the Meles regime is now preparing to destroy the region’s natural resources by leasing large tracts of forest land to foreign investors at bargain prices to grow tea for export. Below is a video about Gambella’s stunning natural resources.

Thank you Elias!
I know this area. it is very beautiful, the forest is dens, very active and full of life. The area is endowed with rich natural resources in general and water resources in particular. By the way, Most of the water that contributes to nile comes from this area. Baro (Ethiopia’s widest & only navigable river) and Akobo originate from the wet and fertile western highlands of the country. These two rivers are the main sources of potable water, fish and moisture for riverbank cropping such as maize, sorghum and fruit crops.
That area is amazing. If you are traveling from Jimma to Gambella by road, the end of the western part of the Ethiopian central plateau and the beginning of the western low lands, in which Gambela falls, can easily be noticed around the town of Gore.
West of Gore the land falls dramatically and the road descends through forested rugged mountains until the terrain flattens out and the vegetation cover thins out & finally gives way to a hot, humid, harsh and bare plains.
We need to protect these area before Woyane thugs destroy it.
SAVE GAMBELLA! SAVE GAMBELLA! DOWN WITH TPLF
Mengistu hailemariam tried to resettle som tigrian famine victims under the resettlment program during the 1984/85. The tigrians refused to resettle there at a village called now abobo. I think this area is now given to Alamoudi. I was one of the AAU students who travelled to gambella in 1984 to assist and build huts, schools, churches, mosques for famine victims. Most of the tigrians who moved to that area were drowned by Akobo river when they tried to travel back to tigray. They missed the golden chance!
Mengistu gave the land to our people, but Legese zenawi is selling to foreigners to full his pocket with dollar.
This is the ‘Massai Mara’ of Africa, where there was no tourism to speak of. Thus, the white folks could put up the funds and the govt will curtail the ‘ bonanza’………. It looks like they do possess infinite funds and the govt is open to suggestions. I am impressed by the amount of wild life which transverses the two countries. The challenge is, as the expert stated, ‘ how to balance the interest of ‘ wild life’ with that of the Nation’
I hate to see those beautiful animals lose their habitat. It is possible ,according to the expert, to accommodate both sides. It will be a shame if this wasn’t priority for the Federal and local authorities. From what the Minister and the Regional Chief stated they seem to be open to suggestions. The govt and the locals can have a ‘ win win ‘ situation. My dream is to visit the area in March at the ‘ height of the migration’. This is opening new frontiers for those traveling to Ethiopia. Who would have believed there was a ‘Massai Mara’ in Ethiopia? This ‘ truly’ is an ‘ eye opening’ documentary!
I didn’t know Africa is so rich in wildlife. I actually thought the only tourist attractions are the historical sites. This sites are a national treasure. They have immense economic and aesthetic values for the people. Preservation should be priority. New investments shouldn’t endanger the ecosystem.
This is very sad news that our treasurey, which has been given to us by our Almighty God will be vanished by tyranny ruler. If we do not show our firm opposition, this last piece of Ethiopia’s natural forest will disappeare like that ” Chaka Chatto ” in Ilubabor and ” Anbessa Chaka ” in today’s Benishangul Zone. Till the last time of Haile Silasie, these both areas were covered with sky rocketing bambos, mahoghanis and others rain forest trees. Wild animals like baffalos, lions, leopards, chitas, monster pythons and others were roaming every where in the forest. Today one can not see a single partrige or guinea fowl.
God save our land !
