Al Amoudi’s Sheraton Hotel to be closed down

Sheraton AddisGeneral Manager of Al Amoudi’s Sheraton Addis told department managers last week that the hotel will be closed down soon and will stop taking reservations starting February 15 unless the management is unable to reach an agreement with the union, according to The Reporter. Sheraton Addis, built 13 years ago, is the largest hotel in Ethiopia. Read more in Amharic here.

This is a good news. Sheraton Addis is a whorehouse for Al Amoudi and his Saudi millionaire friends as well as the ruling party elite. Other Woyanne-affiliated businesses will soon follow suit.

  1. This is not a good news Elias.
sheraton employ thousand of poor ethiopians and allowed them to support their family.
By the way I just received a confirmation from a reliable source that this won’t happen!
    Long live Ethiopia

  2. it’s the right time this hotel has to shut its door. now it’s almost more than 13 years since it contributed to the dictator regime in ethiopia. Although the primary cause of shutting down this hotel relates to completely different reasons, we support the economic grid lock of the TPLF money making machinery. Please go forwards and close down this hotel.

  3. Maybe the fake sheik have seen what is coming to him. Egypt-Sudan-Yemen-ultimately Ethiopia, he know that he will be the first to receive the public rath. What about his other businesses?

  4. whether we Like or not closing sheraton is not going to be good
for people was working there and this people they may have families also by closing it they are the one who is going to hurt not Al-moudi. let us for real what ever Al-Moudi built in there soon or later it belongs to the ethiopian people and don’t get me wrong i also don’t like Al-moudi he is an ass and woyane lover but there are lot’s of people are earning a living under him. we need to think twice about these people they are part of our society lucky enough to have a job and helping their families and closing sheraton don’t mean nothing to Al-moudi because he was not making profit from it any way but having it for ethiopiais good because when some Foriegner {Tourist} come at least they can see ethiopia has something otherwise for majority ethiopians was not affordable any way and to me closing it not a good IDEA …

  5. This is actually a very SAD news!!! Many Ethiopian’s livelihood depends on the hotel and I am sure they are not happy about this news. And I think Ethiopian review has made a mistake by dubbing this as a good news. Although I understand that this journal is against the current ruling parting, it doesn’t mean that it has to be against everything. It should consider every news in light of it’s value to the Ethiopian people and not make ‘ chefene’ judgment like an uneducated person!

  6. Hey to all regime supporters that all of the sudden are concerned about the so called shearton whorehouse employees. Stop you sound really stupid and arrogant how dare you undermine the educated people of Ethiopia, Go try your woyanne psychlogical tactics in the caves and mountains where you belong.

  7. Sheraton is an edifice of the decaying Woyanne regime. It is also a place where African genociders come to have fun with poor underage Ethiopian girls. Let it shut down.

  8. Hi: Ben I know you hate woyanee but sheraton and it’s foundation will stay in ethiopia for feature generation in the other hand woyane and al-moudi will go away from ethiopia for good but for now closing sheraton is like killing the people who actually win a bread and help there family and let us forget about
woyane and al-moudi for a moment and keep focus about how it will affect the workers in there…

NOTE: woyanee will go away soon or later

  9. Let’s hope all the other businesses that have close ties with the criminal woyanes closes down one business at a time. Ala Moudi has gotten wealthier since he started living in Ethiopia and has benefited a lot more from Ethiopia than the people that work for him for very little pay. Ala Moudi is a friend of the brutal woyanes, not a friend of the suffering of Ethiopians.

  10. First and foremost,Al Amoudi will be charged with tax evasion because he did not pay tax on construction materials that he imported in;therefore, this cheater shall pay 100% penality on tax cheat.

Secondly, many of our innocent little and young girls have been stripped of thier innocence by the sheikes who, literaly had voracious apetite for sex. These, sheikes usually, landed in Addis during night flights and were immediately whicked into the Sheraton in jeeps with tinited windows.Guess what,Ethiopians, each wild sheik gets as many as girls as they could. This is totally a crime committed by the enemies.

  11. @Sara what does it mean work for you??To work like Slave is work too. But if we talk about WORK. or TO GIVE THE PEOPLE WORK – it must be like WORK for example Insurance, Rent, fair payment and so on.
there is a good proverb in amharic – YEBEDA HULU BALE AYDELEME!! That means if you give me a work and I work like slave. It does not means you give me a work. It is Slavery!!

  12. TO Meseret : Let us say Sheraton closes tomorrow and what happens then ? second, what do we {ethiopians} benefit from it . at least having it will give a job to some ethiopians it may not be much but it’s something just because we hate al=moudi and woyane we should not escape from reality and if it got to be closing soon and when the people out of job will you be supporting them ? and you wore talking about slavery but in ethiopia every body is a slave one way to another it’s a poor country again closing sheraton not a GOOD IDEA {my opinion}.

Note: sorry if i may offended you Mesi .

  13. @ Dan. No my brother you did not offended me. I am not saying it is good Sheraton is closed i said whether in Sheraton oder Haile Gebreselassie or somebody else – When you we talk about Work It must be Work not Slavery that what i mean.

  14. Elias
Sheraton addis is woyanne symbol that is built to mislead the peoples like that of poor quality buildings in addis and as the poor quality roads to cheat the donors for where abouts of their aid money in which they dont worry that much as long as woyanne is doing their dirty job ,so if not now after freedom we will give back those replaced poor peoples back their land and another sheraton will be built by Ethiopian peoples in the right place with respecting the peoples choice.
God bless Ethiopia and its peoples
Death for traitor dedebit tegre gujille

  15. I heard the argument has been started since the inception of the union.even some leader of the
union has been in prison in false accusation when the judge order bale out almost half of sheraton employee swarm police station any way aliamude him self admit that sheraton is not profitable so is he doing for free or he will get it in some way around!!!!!!

  16. Ethiopia were a proud country a mother of Africa under all our kings even under Dergue yes we know all Degue was a brutality crime but never and ever was a cheap who were under Arab.

  17. This is a reply to the person who posted a message by the name of Sara. My question is are you one of the whores who was employed by this pimp called Almoudi? or are you one of his male cuncubines concubines?

  18. To the point that losing a known hotel has an impact on tourism but as this largest hotel is the house for dictators web/net for thier fillantropic behavior of woyane for now, till ethiopia is free from woyane and its feeder, it is good to close it down.so all in all, closing of sheraton is a choiceless happening since it is woyane’s mainframe.

  19. We have a dignty culuture in Ethiopa and can any body understand we need a real job not on the side of Hotel in the other sida of midnight.
Burn the hotel and we are not like Kenya or Sio Piowlo or Tia.
my Ethiopia is the place of Teodros,Menelik,Ras Dasta Damtow,Deg Abera Kassa Hailu and the other. Not for this dogs

  20. Shereaton workers are not working like slaves. They earn a decent income for Ethiopia’s standard. They get tipped well and Alamoudi also gives out bonuses from his personal account to keep the workers happy. Shereaton Addis is just getting by, they are not making that much money. He built a world class hotel in that poor country when no other investor would even dare to build a motel let alone a 5 star hotel. The hotel is an Ethiopian treasure now. Alamoudi is not going to take it with him to Saudi. If all the people who comment on this page are Eritreans, I can understand where they are coming from. If you are an Ethiopian and think that this is a good news, you are sick.

  21. I don’t know why we are so happy to see a single hotel closed. It is nothing more than a service industry. Why don’t we think about somethingelse that will shorten the life of EPRDF in power.

  22. Do Ethiopia need a luxurious hotel such as Sheraton? Wouldn’t it be worth to have more economical and efficient hotels? Do ordinary Ethiopians care about Sheraton? Then, who cares if it is closed or not!!!

  23. I don’t see any advantage to the people from the closing of this hotel. First of all it is a modern landmark and then it is one of the major employers in the city. In our society dependency is rampart and in fact it is our culture providing support for the livelihood to members of our extended family. One person employed at such business may be supporting 3-4 people in his family. The other ramification from this closure(If it is true) is the message it is sending to other potential investors. The third possible outcome would be the takeover of this landmark hotel by Mrs. Piggy and her flyspeck concubine.
It has been reported that labor dispute has been simmering between employees and management of the hotel for a long time. Finally, this Sheik-Tuulbee has decided to throw his weight around. He has money in billions and the capacity to move his Hareem to, say, Djibouti or Kenya.

  24. OK DABA YOU ARE OUT OF LINE. SARA IS ENTITLED TO HER OPNION AND SHE SHOULD NOT BE ATTACKED LIKE THAT. SHAME ON YOU.
YES SHERATON EMPLOYES, OFFICE, FRONT DESK, WAIT PEOPLE, MAIDS, HOUSEKEEPING AND ETCCC THESE ARE ALL EHTIOPIANS WHO WILL BE IMPACTED BY THE CLOSURE OF SHERATON. SO YES IT IS NOT GOOD NEWS!!

  25. #28 Daba; Why do you have to reply to Sara like that?We can make our point with civility.Try it next time.I don’t think
we will be any different from bad people
who run our country if we keep attacking people every time they disagree with us.

  26. Hi; Meseret I got you and if we are united with out a division whether the meles regime or Al-moudi will go away soon actually let us hope they will build more infrastructure for the nation from themoney they have been stealing if they put the money out side it’s going to be hard to get it back also once they put any thing it’s going to be there and it will be part of this poor nation even after their departure in the mean time let the poor work to make a living and the time is not far for this regime and i hope we will get some compensation at least .

Note : our division is to their strength so let us be unite this is
    our nation it’s not theirs…….

  27. Has the sheik paid the millions of dollars borrowed from the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia to build the hotel a decade or more ago? I know the case was in a court, but never heard the final decision.

We all know the hotel employs many people. But, what is going on behind this hotel for more than a decade is beyond belief and intolerable. One can list a whole range bad stuff, if there is a need.

It is time he returns the money he borrowed and it is also time to clean the hotel up. It just can’t do good if it remains a symbol of corruption and a house of whores for Arab fornicators.

The trouble in this hotel and a few more others places in the country are symptoms and signs manifested by the malignant regime. Soon it will also be time to close the woyane political machinery once and for all just like elese where in the middle east.

All those who have ears should listen and those who have eyes should open them and look around. We just can’t always give deaf ears and blind eyes to what ever is happening in that unfortunate country.

God bless Ethiopia and its people.

  28. It is so sad news, who ever be served and whoever enojy the service! In a city where AU and other similar international orgs located such of class hotels much do to our figure and tourism and seminar attractions.. It is an asset to a generation, despite owned by an individual..
