Ethiopians in Seattle to join Egyptians in a day of protest

By Kirubeal Bekele

SEATTLE — Most of us Ethiopians are simply watching it like a movie. As if we were free people. When revolution is spreading like wild fire in Tunisia, Egypt and all over against brutal dictators, we Ethiopians are just watching. Stop it. We have work to do. We have a killer dictator terrorizing our people. We have a historical obligation to help topple a dictator in Ethiopia now so that he joins his friends Ben Ali of Tunisia and Mubarak of Egypt. This is the moment we have been waiting for. Let us ride this storm of revolution that swept North Africa and the Middle East.

On Saturday, Egyptians will hold a protest rally against Mubarak in downtown Seattle. Let us come out and join our Egyptian friends in solidarity. I was told that TV, radio, and print media will be there to cover this demonstration. This is a golden opportunity to expose Meles Zenawi together with Mubarak in front of the Seattle and international media.

Please show up this Saturday at noon at Westlake Park in downtown Seattle.

  1. Please join the protest. There are many advantages to it. All oppostion leaders have to help organize this issue. It helps us in many ways.
    1) Media coverage
    2) Solidarity with freedom loving people
    3) It gives a sense of continuity outside the Arab world
    4) It helps motivate Ethiopians backhome.
This is going to be one of the most effective demostrations the Ethiopians ever have in the past decade.

  2. This is a good opportunity to Ethiopians every where to let the world know that, what was happening in Egypt the past thirty years of Mubarek’s rule is not any worse than what our people in Ethiopia are subjugated to by the Weyane group for the last twenty years. By the way the people of Tigray have been Also subjected to cruelity and injustice by this anti Ethiopia Weyane thugs since this groups inception. Injustice any where is injustice every where. Down with dictatorship.

  3. Yes we have to do it. We are going to join the Egyptian here in Washington DC.It is not only the exposure that we get from all this, we have to stand with freedom loveing people of the world. Meles is watching this and learning the tactics he needs to follow. The whole world wacting the time for Dictators have come to an END.No more looting and running away what ever weyane built will stay at home but what was sent out side will be RETURNED too.Thhis is a must read article by Sissay Againa http://www.ethiopianreview.com/amharic/?p=4829

  4. I have some unanswered question regarding the future. The future is not in my hand. At the moment I believe deeply that I don’t mind a possibility of change of mind to fine-tuned argument that counters the truth that I hold the situation in Ethiopia is worse than Egypt. My recent visit to Ethiopia is a testimony. With that foundation in a mind I think it is time for change in Ethiopia. I also believe that as much as possible a change shall come peacefully because peaceful demonstration is right. I must also say that, I love all humans and diversity. As I hold to be true that also a dictatorship is not right.

  5. It is time for the unaware and deafeted old administrators of 100 years who has broght all ill to the Ethiopian people. It is not the existing adminstration who brought all the ill and fede up of the country that exists today.
