It has been crystal clear for a while that the West (U.S., U.K., Germany others) will not be of any help to the struggle for freedom in Ethiopia. In fact, they are fueling the repression with billions of dollars in assistance to the brutal regime led by their favorite beggar despot Meles Zenawi. However, Ethiopians are not without options. We just need to take matters into our own hands. In the following article German-Foreign-Policy.com reports that the German government is offering an expanded bilateral military cooperation program to the Meles regime in 2011 in order to serve its east African interests:
The German Bundeswehr is expanding its support for Ethiopia’s armed forces, despite persistent accusations that they committed serious war crimes. As was confirmed by the parliamentary state secretary in the German Defense Ministry, Thomas Kossendey, Berlin is offering Addis Ababa a bilateral military cooperation program for 2011, which includes the training of army and air force officers. A so-called organization for development aid is also involved. Berlin has been supporting the Ethiopian regime for years, because it has made itself useful as the West’s East African proxy. Over the past few years, Ethiopia, in coordination with Washington and Berlin, dispatched its troops to Somalia to overthrow forces displeasing to the West and committed grave war crimes, according to reports from human rights organizations. These organizations are also accusing the Ethiopian army of ignoring the rules of warfare in their repression of Ethiopia’s domestic rebellions. In his talk with german-foreign-policy.com, Dr. Berhanu Nega, who opposes the regime in his country, raised grave accusations against Germany’s policy toward Ethiopia. Dr. Berhanu considers the hope that the West would be helpful in Ethiopia’s democratization process is doomed from the outset.
Germany’s interest in Ethiopia and east African can be protected by supporting the people of the region to get their freedom, not by funding the parasite Woyanne regime that has made the region a perennial war zone.

The West doesn’t care for Ethiopia or its people. Ethiopia can’t develop simply because the West won’t allow it. The World bank and IMF are crooks. Their goals is too keep the follow of resources going to the West and due to their greed will not allow Ethiopia to develop. The only way the Westerners can succeed is if they continue to prop up bandit regimes like the TPLF.

I hadn’t read German-Foreign-Policy.Com before. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it was compiled by independent journalists and social scientists, who seemed concerned in their own words by “Germany’s renewed attempts to regain great power status in the economic, military and political arena.”
The Editors state that soon after the Ethio-Eritrean war the German government started to train Ethiopian troops and has since continued to expand its military cooperation program in Ethiopia. In 2006, almost a year after the 2005 fraudulent elections when the Ethiopian military and Meles Zenawi’s special “Agazi” security forces brutally murdered 193 innocent civilians, the German government elevated its interest in Ethiopia because of the recent discovery of Ethiopia’s natural resources, as well as the desirability of acquiring Ethiopia’s military capability to protect Germany’s economy which is dependent on maritime routes on the East African coast. However, this concept is rather odd, as Ethiopia no longer has a navy. Nonetheless, Germany’s interest is about utilizing Ethiopian soldiers as fodder to defend its interests.
Berlin has declared that as of 2011 the cooperation with Ethiopia will include “transformation of the armed forces”, ‘and especially the training of army and air force officers’; at the end of 2010, a German Government group of advisors would be based in Ethiopia to accomplish the “transformation of the Military Training Center at Holeta from a civilian-military professional training facility” into a supposedly “primarily” civilian oriented facility. (The operative word here is “primarily” civilian oriented, i.e. non-uniformed secret service agents). ‘The military project will be carried out’ “in cooperation with the German Association for Technical Cooperation (GTZ), the largest of the German so-called development aid organizations.” This seems to imply that this project is so secret that it is being disguised as development aid.
‘All things considered, with these measures, the German government is enhancing the capabilities and leeway of the heavily incriminated Ethiopian military for future wars and projects for combating domestic upheavals’(emphasis mine). To me this is a clear indication that Germany is willing to assist the ruthless Ethiopian military with military advisory capability for future wars, including internal disputes between the Ethiopian government and the people.
Despite the Ethiopian government’s massive human rights violations and reports of war crimes in Gambela and the Ogaden, the German government is willing to provide military training and equipment to the Ethiopian armed forces. Every Ethiopian should be aware that the German government has been aiding and abetting the cruel Ethiopian government which kills its own citizens for some time.
With the pretext of providing development aid, Germany and other Western countries in Ethiopia are in reality propping up the authoritarian and repressive government of Meles Zenawi, who has brought extreme poverty, hunger and instability to Ethiopia, sold farmers’ lands to foreigners, dismantled the middle class and made vast fortunes for himself and members of his ethnic group. It is our duty to enlighten the Ethiopian people the nature of the development/cooperation of so-called partners, who are indeed the conniving enemies of our beloved country, Ethiopia. No need to remind Ethiopians of the eerie similarity of the actions of the present German government and that of the former GDR Minister Hoeniker during the Derg era. We Ethiopians are often naïve which makes us vulnerable to those wanting to harm our country and people.

So, where has their moral character gone? Where has their commitment for human right gone? How come a country giving all dimension of freedom to its citizens finance a tyrant like Zenawi and train its merciless killing army who are enjoying by the agonies of their own people? I am sure the leaders of Germany know what is happening in Ethiopia but I should remind you. Thousands and thousands of innocent people are languishing in filthy jails only because they ask their freedom, 11 millions of Ethiopians (almost 1/4th of the total population) are in hunger, all independent media are blocked and independent journalists are either jailed or fled the country ……… I can give you thousands of reasons why you shouldn’t support the tyrant. Please for God’s sake stop playing games on the life of millions.
