Three Ethiopians and one South African were injured when a mob of people attacked Ethiopian men in Pietermaritzburg, the capital city South Africa’s second largest province of Kwazulu-Natal, last night, paramedics said.
Three Ethiopian men were treated for superficial stab wounds and a South African woman also sustained a minor injury to her elbow after rocks were allegedly thrown at her, ER24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson said.
She said one of the Ethiopian men treated by paramedics told them that a fight broke out after his brother’s car was vandalized for no apparent reason.
Questions about the car incident allegedly saw a bigger crowd of people from the community become violent against the Ethiopians.
Jackson said the incident resembled xenophobic attacks.

You know what makes me angry when I heard this kind of attack against Ethiopians, Eritreans, Somalians and forigners at all..During the Apartheid era, many refugees from South Africa including some of the leadership of ANC came to Ethiopia, mainly in Addis Ababa.Everybody knows how this people were treated in Ethiopia. No single South Afria was beaten or killed because he or she was forigner.They were given chance to go to school or work with out any restrictions, no one ask them for ID. We saw them as our brothers and sisters.There were South Africans and Southern Sudanese who sat next to us in high schools and elementary school. Now both these people killing Habeshas and Somalians in daily basis. That is what we get back from them..no single word or action from the leadership of this countries. Very sad to see that. Ethiopia was a model for Africans even during the Mengistu regime..now thanks to weyane things become the opposite.When it comes to humanity , East Africans different from other Africans. Somalians, The Northern Sudan , Djibutian ,Eritreans , Ethiopians are realy people who always ready to help their neigbours.Look the Kenyans police ..how corupt they are how they treat the refugees..Let our people get peace and freedom and go back to our beloved countries.A friend in need is a friend in deed.Etiopia was a friend in need to most black Africans.

This is not a surprise, South Africans are not living to the standards of their country can offer, so they get angry when they see foreign economic migrants living better than the locals do. It will take sometime for South Africans to accept people from Africa and all around the world. Although I do not know the circumstances as to how this incident went down, but it is similar to other incidents I heard. The best thing to do is to give local South Africans the chance to improve their lives.
This attack is not particularly directed at Ethiopians. It could have happened to anybody. Remember, a few months ago the zenophobic attack on foreigners, particularly immigrants from Zimbabwe and other neighbouring countries who accorded a safe haven for the ANC south Africans during the brutal white aparthied era. Now that they got their freedom but all the economic means is still in the hands of the white Africanaars. The government of Jacob Zuma who is a joke , himself is in trouble as he is incapable of getting the black south africans out of poverty and miserable life. So in stead of taking their anger at the white south africaaars or the lame duck black government of jacob Zuma, they cowordly take it out on the most vulnerable of the society, the immigrants. The white ex-aparthied and the government seem to be happy to see their poor subjects finding a punching bag ….otherwise they themselves would have been in the recieving end of the rage of the poor. they are rather manipulated, brutalised.
The white working class in Britain and Europe are in a similar situation. The gutter press particularly the racist Murdock owned the SUN always spew out hatred to incite the raging white working class against the immigrants so as to divert their rage away from the establishment who brutalises them in the 80 and early 90’s by Tatcher. Look at the rise of the white supremacist in Europe. They are one way or another are manipulated by the closed knitted establishment.
We will see more of that in the near future. It’s only that it is more highlighted in Africa than in Europe.
If one reads Kwame Nkruma’s book that he wrote in 1965 titled Neo-Colonialism, the Last Stage of Imperialism, Nkruma talk all that is happening now. Find it and read it. it’s an eye opener.
We shouldn’t expect things to be smooth in africa, atleast they have given so much refugee to ethiopians and other african countries. Immigrants are doing good in business and slowly controlling the small business in south africa, this is a big treat for the locals. Look at the exodus from Ethi, everybody aiming for the US must first go to SA and work and save money to cross the Atlantic.
So the point is it is their country and we should not expect always to welcom these flood of people.

What does one expect from these animal like people. The very people used to kill each other by hanging a tire and lighting it up to see the person burn to death horribly. Beside, while still they kiss their white master ass as they always have done it before their independence, now they have become so xenophobic. For sure, more is going to be fallen on anybody, who is not a citizen of that country

Iam a South African woman yet I do feel your pain and I see why you are angered by these evil acts!@ kithco black South Africans are not animals although I do feel like we are not living out the spirit of Ubuntu(humanness) that we proudly speak of, I am sorry that our brothers, my African brothers are treated in this manner. The behaviour that has been displayed by South Africans is shameful!

im not condoning the killing of people just because they are foreign africans or illegals in south africa but i’m not surprised that black south africans are reaching breaking point with other africans who are running away from their failed states like ethiopia, nigeria,zimbabwe,congo,somalia etc…. no country in the world can allow this constant stream of eldless unskilled poor people pouring into their country for decades…not in europe nor america will this be ever allowed.most foreign africans who come to south africa need to realise that south africa can not accommodate millions of them…it’s a country trying to grapple with its own issues of poverty and fledgling democracy whilst the other african countries have had decades to screw up their independent african states since colonial masters left. when sa was fighting for its freedom from apartheid government, only a few thousand black and white south africans resided in other african, asian, european and american countries within controlled environments and they didn’t pour in hundred of thousands and millions as it’s happening in south africa today. they didn’t run around opening shops, running drug and prostitution rings at evey corner at the expense of the locals. most exiled south africans in late 60s’ to 90″s were the cream of the crop that sa had to offer and they focused on studying and bettering thmeselves whilst trying to topple the apartheid government with the knowledge that they’ll go back to their country. the africans in sa today are in their millions most economic immigrants and they are all just desperate with not much useful skill except mostly car guarding, shop keeping and drug trafficking…sa can not cope with this influx as it needs to help sout africans first as charity begins at home. so the influx of illegal immigrants and unskilled economic migrants(skill is always welcome and is useful for any country) is what is execerbating these attacks on african immigrants…fight for limited resources
it’s shamefull that south africans kill and beat their brothers really i think south africans are very good people but i know realize the most south africans are ignorence and they need brain develepment however i would say stop killing your brothers and let your brothers live ur country u know alot of south africans live other countreis
