Col. Alebel Amare talks about the newly formed armed Amhara resistance group — Amhara Democratic Force Movement — in the interview below. Col. Alebel is one of the top leaders of the group and a former deputy commander of the Agazi Army. In a phone conversation with Ethiopian Review today, Col. Alebel said that his group is working in close collaboration with the Ethiopian People’s Patriotic Front (EPPF). Watch below:

  1. His group should join the EPPF. Subnational (Ethnic, regional e.t.c) identities must be subordinate to the National identity. It is certainly a very bad idea for Ethiopians to have movements based on Ethnicity.

  4. I think Col.Alebel has a very good and ratioinal reason to found his Amhara movement. Woyane has claimed Amhara is his enemy from day one and he is destroying anything Amhara. Woyane has been committing slow genocide against Amharas. The Amhara grows by a mere 1.7% while the average population growth for ethiopia as a whole is about 3%. Woyane has been facilitating the the spread of HIV/AIDS in the perceived amhara inhabited cities and in the amhara region. Woyanes has designed the worst education policy for Amhara kids.AMharas are being excluded and targeted by woyanes.
    -Woyane has stolen amhara lands from wollo and Gondar
    -Woyanes has given amhara lands for Sudan
    Woyane has signed away Abay for Egypt
    -Woyane has purposely orchestrated the killing of Amhara by other nationalities and its paid cadres.
    -Woyane has sold all historical arifacts of ethiopia
    -Their anti-ethiopian stand also came from their wrongful assumption that ethiopia is a creation of Amhara.
    I think it will be the most absurd thing for The children of Amharas not to get together and defend themselves from he evil Woyane killers who are hell bent to destroye amhara and anything amhara

    I am one of the staunch supporters who believe that an armed struggle is the only option to overthrow vampire TPLF. Hence, I support also the contents relevant to this idea propagated by Ethiopian Review.

    What disturbs and angers me is this labeling of an ethnic group just to rally provisional support but at the same time risking the ONE ETHIOPIA notion for which the majority stands.

    What we long for is an ETHIOPIAN Democratic Force Movement.

I think it is very important to post the contact address (url, email address, phone or whatsoever) of this very important and timely organization so that interested parties can communicate and participate in the movement. I think it is also necessary to let the people of Ethiopia know about the existence of this organization through VOA, German Radio, facebook and other means.

  9. I have been following the political development in Ethiopia and Eritrea since the 1974 fall of the emperor and the coming of Durge. We also followed all the developments thoughtout the fal of durge and the coming of power of the TPLF. Meles would come to The uk and held disucsions withthe Tigryans and and when asked how are you gining to run Ethiopia? it is a big country and many big Ethnik groups and the opposition to you. Meles’s answere in a small meeting was We are not clever and we will use DIVIDE AND RULE.Meles and TPLF were ready to implment the divide and rule system. They divied Ethiopia into Ethnik sections, making Ethiopians Ethnic groups to fight each other or distrust each other. paralysing the big country into a non moving limbs. But this took long long time for Ethiopians to understand the psycy of woyane. It is good you are waking up now. and one thing is I will never trust woyane and most people from Tigray after all this what I noticed in them.

  10. Although I support both peaceful (Guandi style) and arm struggle. The idea of creating different ethnic groups is dangerous one. This means, we are legitimizing OLF and TPLF and they will be very happy that they have been right all along. However, it is true, Amaras need to defend themeslves because the very creation of OLF and TPLF is because of the Amara domination. That being said, it doesn’t mean that Amara does not have fault, otherwise why would there have been OLF or TPLF created. Certain Amaras still don’t get it and they themselves are perpetuating the problem. For instance, mostly now it is the Amaras from North especially who are enabling TPLF claws on Ethiopians. They are betraying their own people for mere self interest. In addition, Certain Amaras still are ignorant that they are not working along with other ethnic groups such as the Oromos. They need to open their minds themselves as they also accuse TPLF or OLF to open their minds.

  14. Yes! ….You may not believe as I was in tears when I read this news. I don’t realy knows my ethnic background as there are complications to explain why. However, I grow up outside Amhara region but with the language and culture of Amhara or mixed one. I and people like me have been pushed to believe as we are from Amhara tribe and then I told my self as I am Amhara. Let us unite and help our people. This people at this moment are pushed from all games( poletical, economical, cultural).

    Nice to have this Organisation. I proud of it! I will help with all possible costs. First we need to help ourselfs then the whole other ethnic.

  15. Weyane likes ethnic politics, and hates Amharas as a whole. Millions/not thousands of Amharas are intentionally wiped out from the face of their land by the tplf mafia group. Can any body mention any particular crime the Amharas committed against the Tigray people? Mengistu Hailemariam claims that he is an Oromo. Is he an Amhara? Mininik/Hailesilassie were mixed leaders: Amhara/Oromo/Guragie. They were not as such pure Amharas. However they are can any body mention any henious crimes they commited particularly on Tigreans? If so was it sever than the crimes committed by Yohanness IV against the Gojjam people? Were the Amharas in Gojjam mention the millions of cattle that were burnt down by Yohaness IV. The Amhara people were so tolerrant to keep tplf doing the untold crimes against them.So what shoud be the fate of Amharas? Should the Amhara people keep silent? Should they go to form Amhara organization as favoured by the tplf? What is the fate of the Amhara people? Tell me you tplf mafias. What I can say is you tplf’s have sown poisnous politics and you will reap what you have sawn. At least your children and grand children will take it. No matter you you say and do now, you will reap the harvests yourselves or at least your children. Tigray can not go to Europe or Asia. Now I have no alternative rather that going to support Col. Alebel in what ever means to eradicate the tplf mafia not the people of Tigray.

Alebel Amare is our hero..we the children of amharas shoud come together and defend our people and country instead of getting devided in to countless of opposition groups in the name of (hebre bihare)-multi nationaliy …We are pro-ethiopian unity and we always be …but we have been targetted by woyanes for so long and we should stand up and challenge them…after all it is a just response for all amharas…to stand in unisom and fight the enemy…

I even do not exclude that such idea may have been originated from Woyannes themselves to blame and punish some successful Amharas . Notably, not in my Name!!! As there is no an Amhara Party there couldn’t be an Amhara army – enough is enough!!! We are first Ethiopians and then …. not the other way round.

Ethiopia is like a big house that depends on its pillars, and when its pillars collapse or when they are on the verge of collapsing, the entire house – the whole Ethiopia – will collapse, and these pillars that have been supporting the entire house – the entire Ethiopia – are the Amhara people. When the Amhara people are gone, with them the whole history of Ethiopia is gone, too, without any trace.

    Therefore, the rise of Colonel Alebel Amare is essential to save some of the lives of the Amhara people who have been mercilessly slaughtered by the Woyanne death squad for a simple reason that the Amharas have been governing Ethiopia for a long period of time. Some of the Tegarues have found out the Amharas are very proud, majestic, and culturally the most advanced, disciplined, and well-organized Christians who cannot easily bend down their heads to the ungodly authoritative government of Meles Seitanawi (Zenawi) and his wife Jezebel (Azeb) and their (the Amharas’) advancement in the way they handle their daily businesses have become a big threat to the existence of the Woyanne government. For this reason, Meles Seitanawi has targeted the Amhara race as Hitler targeted the Jews to totally destroy them from the face of the earth.

    When the dark angels – the Meles death squad – waged a hidden war against the old and the young, the pregnant women, the sick and the healthy, the clergy, the deacons, the memhirs, the debteras, and all the Amhara politicians and the peasants, no one came to rescue them, and no one dared to say: “What is going on in the Amhara regions, and where are those Amhara giants (azawnts) and where are those children who used to play around those villages and why are those houses abandoned and burned down, Churches closed, properties confiscated, and no one is to be seen around?”

    Unable to control his deep feelings about the destructions of his people, and living his family in a precarious way in order to save other people’s family, Colonel Alebel Amare is like the Biblical Jonathan, David’s beloved friend, who climbed the cliff and attacked the Amalekites and saved his people from being slaughtered by their enemies. Colonel Alebel Amare has not yet created havoc in the camps of the Woyanne’s mercenary armies as Jonathan did in the camps of the Amalekites, but the Colonel’s attempt to save the Amharas without wasting his time by joining the Ethiopian Freedom Fighters who may have very sophisticated rules and orders of engaging the enemy is very commendable, and he has the right to arrange self-help groups to protect the Amharas’ villages from extinction, and his future plans are, I’m sure, to liberate not only the Amharas but all other Ethiopians who are like the Amharas are being indiscriminately slaughtered without any reasons what so ever.

    My full support is with you, Colonel Alebel Amare, and may the Almighty’s divine support also be with you and with all of those who are working with you to take away the shame and the disgrace that Meles Seitanawi and his Woyanne criminals have brought upon this hard-working Amhara tribe and upon the other Ethiopian innocent tribes!

Hope, this will not take much time for the people of amhara. I am proud of this armed group. We can accomplish this task even within months. I think this is a great idea – Amhara is declared by TPLF to be their worst ennemy…well they said it, prophecized it, not only we will be their nightmare, but stronger than ever…they have killed so many poor kids from Amhara regions, gave contraception (expired) so their uterus can no more carry kids..but Hitler did worse with jewish, no? Where are they today?? As ever united, growing and smartly educated…we will be reinforced from now.
