Ethiopian man kills mother, daughter in Virginia

Alexandria, VIRGINIA (NBC News) — Alexandria Police are searching for a man they believe murdered his own 3-year-old daughter and the child’s mother.

34-year-old Simon Bahta Asfeha is now wanted for first-degree murder in the deaths of 27-year old Seble Tessema and their child, according to police. Tessema and Asfeha reportedly had a prior relationship, but don’t appear to have been married.

Police were called out to the Brent Place apartments off of 375 S. Reynolds Street around 10:30 a.m. for reports of a domestic disturbance. Instead, they found the bodies of the mother and child. “They found two victims deceased on an apartment on the 14th floor. We’re investigating the case as a suspicious death right now,” said Deputy Chief of Alexandria Police Blaine Corle.

Asfeha is reportedly driving a 1999 silver Acura with Virginia tags XKS-1522. Anyone with information is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703.838.4444 or the Crime Solvers tip line at (703) 838-4858. Detectives would like to remind witnesses that they remain anonymous.

  3. I am absolutely in shock!!! I live a couple of miles away from this area. So many Ethiopian people live here and i thought we got each others back. Now things have changed. I just can’t make any sense out of this!!! WHAT IS HAPPENING TO US??!!??

No reason in the whole world is big enough to kill a mother and her child…this is a work of unstable mentally ill individual who is possessed by the devil just like Woyanes who don’t have value for human life. Unfortunately, there are quiet a few Ethiopians who get jealous of their wives to the point of killing. Get a hold of yourselves guys, and think and walk away when evil things like this cross your minds. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones.

  7. I just saw this on a local news channel and could not believe it. I am so sorry this happened in our society in a foreign land where most cultures take care and help one another. No one has the right to take one’s precious life given to us by God. To take a baby’s life, I will leave this up to the person who committed this crime and his creator. I am sure justice will be served here on earth or hell. God bless those who lost their lives. My people, please love one another. Do not do this to anyone, not even to animals.

  12. This is so sad , what person kills a mother and child of 3 years old. And I live about 8 lights from there , and it’s getting me kinda frightened too know that he is out there somewhere. I’m scared too walk to the school bus stop but even though I’m with people there but you will never know. I really hope they catch him and make him pay. In memories of the mother and child that died so young and in a tragedy way , they are now in a better place so lets now let their souls rest in peace.

  16. He must be a selfish psychopath, to kill his own daughter. I hope God help to have him caught and face justice, surely the electric chair.
    This is a sign of decadency in our society. Savage and barbaric act like this should be condemned by all of us. This monster should face justice and pay the price of those innocent souls, which he has taken them prematurely.

  20. Guys we should not even dare to blame the guy, he is just a human being and we do not know in what crazy situation he was in. Usually such callous act is commited by mentally ill individuals. The sad part is that his situation was not observed closely to save the guy from committing such a tragedy . Family and friends need to study thier close relatives mental status thoroughly specially when they gone through divorce, family fued, child custody , etc to reduce and revert such disastorous outcome.
    God R.I.P thier soul.

  26. This is one of the most disturbing news ever to be associated to an Ethiopian or Eritrean. Slashing the throat of a baby is the most outrageous of all cruelty in the history of crimes. There has never been such a horrible crime in the history of the state of VA.
