Feb. 22 rally further solidifies Ethiopia-Eritrea solidarity

By Elias Kifle

A week ago, on February 22, several Ethiopians joined tens of thousands Eritreans at the worldwide protest rally against the UN sanction against Eritrea.

The sanction was a plot concocted by the Woyanne regime lobbyists in the U.S. headed by Ambassador Susan Rice. When Ambassador Rice and other corrupt officials at the State Department had failed to get a bill passed through the U.S. Senate labeling Eritrea a terror-sponsoring state, they brought together some puppet African dictators such as Museveni of Uganda to push a resolution through the U.N. that accuses Eritrea of providing weapons to Somali Islamist group al Shabab without offering an iota of evidence.

In fact, a UN special envoy accuses Woyanne, the ruling tribal junta in Ethiopia, of selling weapons to al Shabab and others in Somalia.

The real reason behind Woyanne’s campaign to have the U.N. impose sanction against Eritrea is that the Eritrean people and government have been providing moral and political support to Ethiopian freedom fighters such as Ethiopian People’s Patriotic Front (EPPF). The hidden purpose of the sanction is to eliminate any opening for EPPF and others to operate in Ethiopia. Therefore, the U.N. sanction is indirectly imposed on Ethiopia so that the Woyanne regime is free to pillage and plunder the country without any serious opposition.

Ethiopians are well aware of this fact and EPPF chapters around the world held an emergency conference on January 3 to take a stand against the sanction, and to also show their solidarity with the people of Eritrea. They passed a strong resolution condemning the sanction.

Feb. 22 provided another opportunity for Ethiopians to stand in solidarity with Eritreans. The unintended consequence of the Woyanne-Rice UN sanction is that it has brought the people of Ethiopia and Eritrea more closer than ever.

When I and other Ethiopians who reside in the Washington DC metro area arrived in front of the White House, where the protest rally was being held last Monday, Eritreans were out in thousands already. The Eritreans, who arrived from several states in the east coast of the U.S., greeted us warmly and enthusiastically. When a large Ethiopian flag unfurled in the middle of the crowed, Eritreans cheered loudly in an expression of appreciation.

After witnessing the excitement with which the Eritreans received us, I knew there and then that we were making history. For the first time since the Woyanne junta took power, I started to see light at the end of the tunnel for bringing change in Ethiopia and the whole Horn of Africa region, which has been made a perennial war zone by the Woyanne warlords.

The reaction by Woyannes to such solidarity with Eritreans is as expected. They were foaming at the mouth in condemning us for standing with Eritreans. I don’t blame them — such solidarity will cause their demise and they more than any one else are aware of it.

Those of us who advocate Ethiopia-Eritrea solidarity are the prime target of Woyannes. They are coming at us from every direction. So when Ethiopian Review’s server crashed right after the Feb. 22 protest rally under mysterious circumstances, I became suspicious. The web site’s massive database completely disappeared without a trace. We are investigating the cause. Fortunately, anticipating such an incident, we have been keeping back ups of all Ethiopian Review files at multiple locations and we were able to bring most sections of the web site back online in a couple of days.

The alliance of Ethiopians and Eritreans should not be allowed to be derailed by Woyanne or any one else. There is a lot at stake for the people of both nations. As long as Ethiopian Review is up and running, it will continue to be a leading advocate of such collaboration and solidarity, which will lead to the liberation of Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa from a parasite called Woyanne.

  1. Elias,

I am glad that you are back, and may God protect you from all those who wish you harm. You have the support of the majority of Ethiopian and Eritrean ppl, and don’t give up.

    Thanks Brother.

  2. Bravo Elias, you know the Woyanes more than they know themselves. No amount of illegal sabotage by the Woyanes will stop Ethiopian review from telling the truth!! Long live Ethio-Eretrean solidarity.

  3. Elias, welcome back and I hope many Ethiopians will line up on the same line of yours and beleive – cooperation is the win-win situation – for BOTH the Eritrean and Ethiopian people. Everything else is immaterial. That said, I expected many more Ethiopians to express their solidarity than they did last Monday. But, may be the DC chill coward them?

  4. The US sponsored sanction is backfiring against the very people that tried to sponsor it. The Ethiopian majority (minus Weyanes) has asserted it’s support to a neighboring nation. I am glad most of us are now more informed than anytime in our history, we all know now Weyane is the enemy of the region. Soon, it will be history, the Ethiopian majority will scrap the Weyane regime out of our country, and will bring them to justice.

  5. Bravo, a million cheers to Elies for a job well done. You made me happy when I saw you at the rally from afar. It made weyyane mad, the last thing they want to see is our meeting.

  6. I need help guys the new cyber space agent of Woyane, Samuel Tibebe, claming that he has Eritrean heritage but working undercover for Woyane. He is against the idea of Ethiopians to work with Eritreans. Lets work together to embarass him.
You can see his article poste @ ethiomedia/undercover Woyane website.

  7. Brother Erlias, you are one of Wayane’s worest nightmare. You are indeed the BIGGEST threat to Wayane’s power. You have successfully awakened a sleeping giant Ethiopian diasporas. We are now witnessing its fruition as Ethiopians and Eritreans working together to remove Wayane, the cancer of horn Africa, once and for all. Wayne days are numbered now. keep up the blessed job, Elias!

  8. The weyannes are parasitic ethnic fascists and bleeding Ethiopia to death. Ethiopia is in its death bed and true Ethiopians like Elias Kifle are doing their best to save it. The increasing collaboration and understanding between the brotherly and sisterly peoples of Eritrea and Ethiopia are threatening the ethnical fascists. They are campaigning to derail and spoil these positive developments. A good example is the weyanne agent and apologist using the name Tibebe Samuel Ferenj who is scribbling so much old and stinking propaganda aimed at the Ethiopian opposition working with Eritrea. This is not a new weyanne or ethnical fascist tactic but the recycling of their old divide and rule tactic. Tibebe should understand that Ethiopia is under ethnical fascism and Ethiopians have every right to use any avenue they find appropriate to get rid of the ethnical fascist rule imposed on them.

  9. If Ethiopian solidarity is the only outcome from the sanctions imposed on Eritrea then the sanctions will have been the best blessing in disguise. If Eritrea can successfully withstand American hostility with Eritrean, Ethiopian, Sudaneese and Somalian solidarity just imagine what we can collectively do.

    Peace
    Tesfa.

  10. THe only solution for the horn of Africa lasting peace is solidarity and harmony within the people of the Horn. We should all respect each other and help each other. No outsider ( US or UN) is going to solve our problems. We need to have leaders with vision like Elias who bring peace and harmony instead of discord and hatred among brothers and sisterly neighbours.

Together we can prospect and fight against hunger, poverty, sickness and curruption.

Horn Africa is endowned with many natural resources such as oil, fertile land, Natural gas, minerals, tourist attractions, wild and sea etc etc. The colonialists know the potential and they don’t want us have peace and harness our resourses. We should mature and be wise.

When the British defeted Italian colonizers in Keren – an Eritrean woman came elululating to greet the British commander who lead the British army and do you know what his response was to her ? He said ” I DID NOT DO IT FOR YOU NIGGER” read Michela Wrong book titled ” I did not do it for you”

Peace and harmony to the People of Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan, Momalia

  11. Bravo elias kifle and er for being a voice for the voiceless ethiopians and for the huge effort that is made to solidify ethio eritreans together to get rid of the weyane criminal and corrupted group from ethiopia once and for all.

    keep up the great job!

  12. Woyane knows you are incorruptible (notoriously anti-hodams at that) Ethiopian patriot.

So the other methods left to silence you is sabotage & incessant intimidation. Your attributing of a server crash to Woyane agents is not far-fetched. We’ve all seen similar acts of sabotage to anti-war websites (& to the then-anti-war al-Jazeera) during George Bush’s invasion of Iraq. But that was done by CIA and Mossad foot-soldiers worldwide.

So IMHO, it’s not far-fetched & presumptions to think they (CIA/Mossad) would do the anything to protect their “ally” in the Horn of Africa: the current minority, genocidal & vote-rigging murderer-Meles-regime in Ethiopia.

Long-live Ethiopian-Eritrean solidarity— the most, if not only, potent potion of death to Woyane.

  13. Glad ER is back online and functioning again. To me it seemed too much of a coincidence for ER server to crash on the same day as the world wide demonstration against the UNjust sanctions against the people of Eritrea, which in fact is also a sanction against those who are fighting to get rid of Woyanne in Ethiopia.

What scares the masters of Woyanne is the genuine friendship and solidarity among the Ethiopian and Eritrean people, in fact they showed how far they are willing to go by messing with ER at the moment they thought was the most crucial in development of Eritrean and Ethiopian peoples solidarity.

This is also is good news for Ethiopians because this cowardly act showed how weak and scared Woyannes and their masters are. They know once Ethiopians in the diaspora realize who their real friends and enemies are, Woyannes time will be up in no time. Elias, you are doing a great job exposing Woyannes and their gangster masters, you will definitely be tested more and more but I am sure you will in the end truimph because you have truth and justice on your side.

  14. Well job Elias, I feel so proud to see our ethiopian brothers sisters joining the Eritreans marching for justice.

However, be careful. There are lots of enemies out there.
    We Eritreans support you 200%!

    Keep up the good work
May god bless Eritrea and Ethiopia

  15. GOOD JOB ELIAS MY HERO.THERE IS NO OTHER CHOICE THAN ERITREANS AND ETHIOPIANS, TO LIVE TOGHETHER ,SIDE BY SIDE IN PEACE.THE OPPOSITE CHOICE OF LIVING IN PEACE IS LIVING IN HELL.BY THE WAY,AS ETHIOPIANS SAY “YETEMARE YIGDELEGN”.

  16. So far and for so long, the Woyanne government has been using as a weapon the alienation of our Eritrean brothers and sisters from us their flesh and blood; however, the February 22nd historic demonstration by thousands of Ethiopians and Eritreans has put those politicians in Ethiopia and Washington, who have been working tirelessly to never allow the Ethiopian and the Eritrean people visit each other, work together, and live side by side, in an awkward position and in a political disarray.

The simple truth is this: If America and Canada have lived side by side, worked hard and traded together friendly, why does the Woyanne government think that Ethiopia and Eritrea cannot work together and prosper economically, socially, and culturally?

Indeed, there is a hidden agenda for both few Washingtonian politicians, supporters of the Ethiopian dictator, Meles Seitanawi, and for the Woyanne corrupt officials that putting Eritrea in isolation but helping the dictator Meles to remain in power will give Washington a first hand look over the entire fragile regions of the Horn of Africa.

Eritrea may not allow Washington to muddle with the politics of the Horn of Africa, but Ethiopia does since Washington supports dictator Meles against Eritrea, his arch enemy, and yet the President of Eritrea has made it clear that he would not surrender to the West politically, socially, and culturally as he sees that the West has nothing to offer to the development of the continent of Africa without a heavy price of the raw materials and minerals that Africa has to offer to the West. On the other hand, the Woyanne criminal officials want to have a close tie with the West, no matter how the West exploits Africa and especially the Horn regions by designating one African state a terrorist state and the others, friends of the West.

Eritrea is the only state that has clearly identified the maneuvering schemes of the West, and for such unethical behavior of the West, Eritrea has repeatedly refused any Western aid tainted with so many harmful attachments with devastating effects to the people of Eritrea if such aid Eritrea allows its citizens to use regularly.

Nevertheless, the careless, greedy, mendicant, and subservient Meles always looks at the carrots, not at the sticks, of Washington, and accepts whatever aid he gets from the West, and by taking anything that comes from the West without questioning it, he has rendered eighty-million Ethiopians prisoners of the Western aid.

To get out of panhandling, one must know how to allocate the overall resources or incomes he has without looking for foreign aid. As a good leader, he must be the last person to be paid if there is some extra money left after all the government employees have been paid fairly. A leader of eighty-million Ethiopians must first discipline himself before he tries to discipline others for money laundering; it is almost unthinkable for a Woyanne leader to put aside over one and a half billion dollars for himself and send the other Ethiopians empty handed and declare there is a famine from such and such region of Ethiopia so that the West must send a massive aid for five or fifteen million hungry Ethiopians every year. This is a shame for a country like Ethiopia, and it is this kind of disgrace that Eritrea has tried to avoid from happening to its tiny but proud citizens.
Eritrea wants to be completely free from the influence of the West, but Ethiopia under Meles wants the West to run the political, economic, cultural, and even religious affairs of the Ethiopian citizens. The rationale why thousands of Ethiopians joined the Eritreans on the February 22nd, 2010 rally was not only in opposition to the UN sanction against Eritrea but also to make Ethiopia free from the western food aid and stand on its own feet like Eritrea. This does not mean that Ethiopia should completely cut off her friendship with the West; what it means is that Ethiopia should establish a close relationship with its neighbors, first, especially with Eritrea and avoid the border conflicts. Once there is peace between her neighboring states, there will be economic prosperity, and, with economic prosperity, there will be no hunger in the Horn of Africa, and especially in Ethiopia, and if there is no hunger in Ethiopia, there will be no panhandling every year and no dependency on the West.

  17. Kudos!! to all Ethiopians who genuinely supported the rally condemning the illegal UN sanction on Eritrea morally or by actively participating.
Though it’s naive to think that we’ve achieved our ultimate goal yet, it’s definetely a milestone which has paved a way for a better and stronger relationship between the peoples of Ethiopia and Eritrea minus the ethnocentric, genocidal, corrupt Woyane thugs.
The Woyane of today is under this false belief that it can go on abusing the system and breaking both domestic and international laws indefinitely so long as it’s bowing down to the “western” demand. Such slave mentality is derailing the sociopolitical progress we should’ve made and, literally, holding the entire Horne of Africa in shakles. It has chosen the temporary “friends” who will eventually dump it like a trash after rendering it useless at the expense and misery of its own people and its neighbours.
Elias should be commended for working hard to provide an environment conducive for Eritrans and Ethiopians to engage positively and learn from one another.

  18. Eleias,
I was worried sick for Your seafty. Please protcet yourself from the enemy. Our thoughts and prayers are allways with you.I have a plan to join our Freedom fighters soon.I hope I will see you in the capital city Addis Ababa soon.

  19. Is ethiomedia.com weyannes site? the funny thing is when they bring any news about eritrea, it is only bad news. they don’t bring it if it’s goo news about eritrea. like weyanne they don’t want to engage wuth eritreans and they want the decline of eritrea. instead we should strength the relationship between eritrea and ethiopia.

  20. The article posted in ethiomedia.com by a certain person named Tbebe ferenji is a sign of frustration and paranoia in minds of weyane and Co. It indicates how much weyane feel threatened and desperate We will see more and more… any such article or voice sholud be seen as success of ER.
Thank you Elias keep the good work up and all peace loving Ethiopians and Eritreans are on your side.
Long live the solidarity between Horn nations in general and Ethioians and Eritreans in particular

  21. Dear Elias,

    You are a hero!
When I think that you are not engaged in hate politics like Ethiomedia.com and Nazret.com I consider you as a double hero of the horn of Africa!!!!

  22. Elias may god bless you, we need more Ethiopians like you who can bring us closer with our Eritrean brothers and sisters and countries in the horn, at this time we Ethiopians we don’t have friends in our region exept woyannes but the truth start to light up we should march side by side with Eritreans untill we get rid of the woyanne click ones and for all we always support you,

  23. King Ezana,

You are right! I can assure you Ethiomedia is a Tigray supermacist that DOES NOT hate Weyanes, but don’t mind if Weyane is replaced with another Tigray based group like Arena Tigray or even the so called Medrek when in fact it is the other side of the Weyane coin!
