Ethiopians in DC met with Kenyan ambassador to the U.S., Mr. Peter N.R.O Ogego, today and lodged their protest against the murder of Ethiopians refugees in Kenya by Woyanne gunmen.

According to Citizen TV, a major Kenyan TV, ten Ethiopian refugees have been killed in the past few weeks alone. Many have been beaten, some were kidnapped by Woyanne gunmen. The victims are university students and journalists who fled to Kenya to escape Woyanne crackdown on protesters following the May 2005 elections.

The Kinijit DC Metro officials Ato Yilma Adamu, Ato Alemayehu Abebe and other representatives of the protestors appealed to Ambassador Ogego to impress upon his government to protect the refugees from Woyanne gunmen. Kenya, as in any other country, as an international obligation to protect refugees.

Ambassador Ogego told the protesters who were holding a demonstration in front of the Kenya embassy that they do not need to be outside. He said the Kenya embassy is their home, too, and they can came in and talk to him any time about their concern.

Happy with the ambassador’s polite reception and satisfied that the ambassadors is willing to communicate their message to his government, the protesters expressed their appreciation and dispersed.

What a contrast to the way Ethiopian protesters are treated by Woyanne embassy officials in DC and around the world. [More photos below.]

  1. The Woyane Minster Seyoum Mesfin and the TPLF Ambassador Samuel need to take a crash course about diplomacy from the Kenyan Ambsador in the United States.
The word spoken by the Kenyan Ambassador “the Embassy is your house too” is very touchy to Ethiopians. On the contrary the Woyane Ambassador always rushes to call a police on peaceful protestors against his masters. What a shame for these so-called Ethiopian diplomats who actually are spying on Ethiopians here in the United States.

  2. I can’t agree more, to who said Ethiopian officials do need a crash course in regards of respect and treating people. Simply
    called “civilized” manners.

Do you know in east Africa, only in Ethiopia that a simple government functionary acts as if he/she is a god?

Lets take former Somalian dictator Ziad Berre can be contacted by an ordinary refugee to meet and discuss his/ her grievances, while a simple Gra Azmach was too proud to
set time to meet an Ethiopian citizen!

Yes, indeed Kenyans do have advantage over us in many ways when it comes to civility. We-ETHIOPIANS need to take a lots
of Crash courses from South Africa, kenya, Somalia and the list goes on etc….

  3. I am so hurt by the killing of students & journalists, these people have the right to chose who every they want, the right live wherever they want too but the action of Ethiopain government is not right and the judjement is in God hands. Not only Ethiopain but also all human beings should satndup and raise their voices against this killing.
