The reactionary faction led by Iyasu Alemayehu has the upper hand and is able to succeed in frustrating the effort of those who want EPRP to become a modern political party.
Another major point of disagreement within EPRP’s leadership has been Iyasu Alemayehu’s meddling in Kinijit’s internal affairs.
These two issues have practically split EPRP into two major camps — those who are pushing for change, and the others who want to maintain the status quo.
