World Bank promised $600 million in loan to Ethiopia
World Bank President James Wolfensohn said on January 27 that the Bank had agreed to advance $600 million in soft loans to Ethiopia in 1998.
At a press conference in Addis Abeba, Mr Wolfensohn said $509 million would go towards road development and a hydroelectric power project. The remaining $91 million would be used for health and education, he added.
