Oromo refugees in Djibouti expelled to Ethiopia
In January, the Djibouti government handed over several Oromo refugees residing in Djibouti to the regime in Ethiopia. Some of the refugees had lived in Djibouti for several years.
It is reported that one of the refugees, Ato Ibrahim Ali Umar, a prosperous merchant who lived in Djibouti since 1979 and owned a chain of grocery stores, was arrested at his home in Djibouti City on January 14. Ato Ibrahim’s four guests were also arrested and held for four days in prison before they were handed over to the TPLF security agents who drove them into Ethiopia.
