ETHIOPIANS IN WASHINGTON DC HELD DEMONSTRATION
MELES ZENAWI MUST GO!
ALL-INCLUSIVE TRANSITIONAL GOVERNMENT NOW!
Several concerned Ethiopians who reside in the Washington DC area held a demonstration today in front of the Ethiopian embassy from 12 Noon – 1 PM. The purpose of the demonstration, which was organized by Ethiopian Democratic Action League (TEGBAR), was to demand the immediate resignation of dictator Meles Zenawi and his traitorous regime. The demonstrators also called for the setup of a transitional government of national unity composed of all opposition political parties, civic associations and elder statesmen..
TEGBAR, a worldwide Ethiopian civic movement dedicated to the promotion of democratic governance, and respect for human rights and rule of law, is organizing demonstrations and rallies every Monday in Washington DC until May 21, which will be followed by worldwide demonstrations on May 25, 2001. The worldwide demonstrations are being organized jointly by seven civic and political groups under United Action Team.
TEGBAR calls on all Ethiopian political and civic groups, including trade unions, professional and student associations and other Ethiopians and friends of Ethiopia around the world to mobilize to bring about the end of Meles Zenawi’s brutal dictatorship.
TEGBAR also calls on Ethiopian political parties and civic associations to convene a national conference as soon as possible to setup an all-inclusive transitional government.
