4th day of Ethiopian journalist Reeyot Alemu’s hunger strike

Ethiopia journalist Reeyot Alemu, a recipient of international awards for courage, is on her 4th day of hunger strike today. Reyot went on hunger strike after the regime prevented her visits by friends and family, and to also protest the inhumane treatment she is subjected to in prison.

Last April, Reeyot was awarded the 2013 UNESCO-Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize in recognition of her “exceptional courage, resistance and commitment to freedom of expression.”
