Do you think buying FB share is a viable investment?

Postby Minelik » 21 May 2012, 12:04

I have been carefully looking into Facebook IPO...and the reaction of investors..unlike Google and Apple...I still doubt that FB share price may not shoot as much as expected..who knows FB thinks they have 900 million subscribers...guess what may be 10% are like me who log in fb every three week...or 70% of the subscribers could be inactive...so I am pessimistic about the sucess of FB. Even a day after it is issued today fb share plummeted 12% giving a headache to folks who brought shares Friday for $38. Today they are at least loosing $4.5 bucks per share. Have your saying.

Minelik,

With all the hype I thought it was going to hit the roof on Friday's closing. The big institutional investors most probably are panicky right now. Don't catch a falling knife. If you buy wait until it bottoms down and start to pick up.

Belaynesh,

In my view, you should stick pumping your money to Legesse Zenawi's Millenium Dam. he is going to sell electricity to Sudan (north & South) plus Djibuti. You are promised 5% return on whatever you invested there and i think you should pump your money there than the useless facebook. There is nothing special in Facebook. Facebooks capital is number of members. Its technology is not unique. Actually Google's new social network Google+ is far better than facebook in terms of privacy, ease of use, technolology and you name it. It is just that Google+ is late enterant to this type of market. it is a matter of days that Facebook will be history just like its predecessor MySpace. But we can't deny that Facebook is the right place to find people like you who post everything in their life including the minutes and seconds they fartt

FB is at its pinnacle, under the law of nature, when things reach at their pinnacle, the only logical assumption is for them to come down. Unless FB comes up with something new to drive the adrenaline of those who invest their time playing with FB, it is bound to slide downward. It's all nice to see pictures of old friends and acquaintances, but those types of social interactions only exist where there is less economic activities with plenty time to spare.

However, where there is disposable income nations, people spend quality times with family and friends at the present, for time has a different meaning to people with money. They see time as their enemy for it's having to choose between making money and spending it with friends and family, so for them FB is a no go. In countries with plenty of money, very little social interactions are observed, individualism takes over, and where there is no opportunity and very little disposable income there is plenty of social interactions.

Hence, the people that use FB are not people that have income to make this venture a lucrative one. It is a nice business venture, and very creative at its core, but for North American and European kids between the ages of 11 and 17 to maintain contact and call each other funny names. I have seen my nephews and nieces do it. I must admit though, it has one excellent use, it teaches kids how to sit in one spot long enough to express themselves through sentences. Let's not also forget the role it played in the Arab Uprising.

All in all, it's a good service for libraries to have for unemployed people and kids to come and use the services. So, government needs to own it, rather than for corporation or individual business venture to have it. Then again, its not beneficial for governments to own and make it available freely, for it robs time, and time that can be used to increase government coffer size, so politicians can enjoy spending the money, sometimes creating conflicts and other times prolonging the suffering of people by purchasing hit-men like Meles Zenawi.

Belaynesh,

What did i do wrong for you to lash me like this?  Didn't you told us that you bought the millenium bond last year? can you update us on the progress of your investment there? I just echoed what you told us few months ago. they say action speaks louder and true to your words, the hedasse dam propoganda is still on your avatar, indicating you only did some change of words than change of hearts.
