It's being said that history repeats itself, first as a tragedy, second as a farce. Those who don't study from their history are bound to repeat it again. PIA once said that truth hurts and our history should be told truthfully, but, in a manner that doesn't create undo stress and tension to our people.
The creation of Shaebia was not an accident of history but as a negation of the politics of reaction and regression. For those who don't know the Eritrean struggle for liberation close and personal, it might be hard to fathom that the first 15 years were spent in a quagmire. Eritreans had to fight Eritreans until the forces of reaction were defeated.
This dark period of the Eritrean history was compared by the Lion of Nacfa to a period when they were forced to walk on top of the cutting edge of a blade - walking on top of it or falling away from it were never plausible alternatives. The young revolutionaries had to pay sacrifices for their principles. Moving forward by any means necessary and not abandoning or changing their correct principles was the only right course of action for them to take at that time.
The Eritrean experience is a portrait of the human spirit's ability to move mountains. We had to fight against all odds and overcame insurmountable challenges. Steel is tested in fire and so is the human character. The Eritrean revolution is like a speeding train. Those who love Eritrea and are made of the right stuff are always on board making history on a daily basis.
In every revolutionary struggle, it's quite common to find some counter revolutionaries. The President said that those who don't have the self-confidence necessary to stand on their own feet or lack the courage to defend Eritrea in times of its need are always looking for some some sub-national, diversionary and other trivial issues to justify their cause or rather sorry existence.
Eritreans are marching in unison to the same national tune. The national character, bond and unity created are the stuffs necessary for building the nation of our dreams and worthy of our Martyrs' sacrifices. History had shown us time and again that the forces of reaction are no match to the heroism, courage, resilience, determination and unity of the Eritrean people.
The question of political leadership is the most fundamental question in a revolution. The Eritrean leadership is the historical product of our revolutionary struggle. The leadership is tested in fire as no other leadership in history. The wisdom, experience, sophistication, guts and nerves of steel of the Eritrean leadership are second to none. Eritrea, the Eritrean people and Shaebia are one and the same. They are one in three, and three in one. And, Amen to that.
