Havana, Cuba, Apr 10.- Cuban and Ethiopian leaders expressed mutual appreciation for the Ethiopian support to Cuba against US hostility and for Cuba's contribution to achieving independence in the African country.

Cuban Vice President Esteban Lazo and Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Ethiopian People, Abadula Gemeda Dago, met on Tuesday and discussed issues of bilateral interests as part of close, long-standing relations between the two countries, according to a press release.

Gemeda Dago, on a visit through Apr.11, referred to his government's priority implementation of the Five-Year Development and Transformation Plan.

Lazo appreciated the solidarity of the Ethiopian people in the struggle for the release of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez, The Cuban Five, who were arrested in the United States in September, 1998 and given harsh sentences for informing Cuban authorities of violent actions by Florida-based anti-Cuban groups.

Ethiopian Parliamentarian Speaks with Relatives of The Five

During a meeting with relatives of The Cuban Five on Monday, Gemeda Dago expressed interest in a solution of their case and said that Ethiopia, as other African countries, is very active in the struggle for their release.

Gemeda pointed out that Ethiopia is very active in the struggle for the release of The Five, as they’re known internationally, and asserted that for them this is also a priority issue. He also referred to the friendship and solidarity uniting Ethiopians to the international campaign in favor of this cause.

On behalf of the relatives of The Cuban Five, Mirta Rodriguez, the mother of Guerrero's, appreciated the support expressed by the parliaments, which have been in the forefront of the struggle for their release.

The top African legislator also met with President of the Cuban Parliament, Ricardo Alarcon, and visited places of cultural and economic interest. (Prensa Latina).

TPLF would take position against the US in favor of Cuba? What's the world coming to, these days. The US taxpayers finance TPLF's aggression against Eritrea and Somalia. How dare they come to Cuba to condemn the US, the very hand that feeds them? They must have been told it's okay to go to Cuba and soil America's name, just for this one time. I will say this to all, TPLF is looking for ways to avoid the 10 year old occupation of Eritrea by appealing to Cuba's government not to take rational stand against aggressors throughout the world. Don't they know the Cubans know ten times more than TPLF and their handlers over what's going on around the world? TPLF cannot go to Cuba while invading Eritrea to the North and Somalia to the South, and occupying Ethiopia against the will of Ethiopians.

For Meles Zenawi it is like gasping for the last breath. He is scrapping in odd places to buy few more days on power. It is a sign of how desperate things have become. running to pariah states like Iran and Cuba.

It is also gives credibility to the Indian ocean news letter about the US pressing Meles to leave power. The natural thing for despot to do under such circumstance is to distance himself from US and show open defiance. But it seems Meles is not in any position to do that. According to well informed sources the majority of the army and other armed forces middle and top officers are well under US influence. The security forces did not move against Meles only because they did not get green light from US. US authorities want a smooth transfer of power to buy credibility for who ever is coming after Meles. And Meles knows he is finished once he leaves power.

So he is creating all the chaos he can manage in the country in the hope that would scare US and let him stay. Burning of monasteries and churches, the feud among Muslims, dislocating people from their land and livelihood and pitting one ethnic group against the other is all (work of Meles's inner circle) meant to scare the US to ease the pressure on him.

The question is will it work? US is not known for giving in to blackmail. But the hostages are not US citizens and there is no immediate political gain or loss for the authorities in Washington. The decision has been taken and the execution is on the hands of those who determine the right moment. Once some one comes in to view of US cross hair it is only a mater of time. They will take him out. They put a lot of work before coming to such conclusion and reversing it is as impossible as it can get.

This seems to be the best sleeping pill for ethiopians   . My goodness, many say "God brought Meles to power and only God throw him out of Palace". now you are saying "The US is planning to throw Meles out of palace" I found this to be classic. my suggestion is you yourself have to fight for your freedom and freedom is something you can bring unto yourself. no one will give you freedom but you yourself

peace

I am sure Ashebir is in big trouble. :) Even my own brother[ Barack- ]told me enough is enough. He told me that we have to take care of his sorry azz as soon as possible or else he is going to do it like he did to Osama Bin Ladin. I believe him and I assured that we Ethiopians will send this sorry azz @game to Mekele one way or the other. :) God willing.
Time is running on this sorry azz @game. He has tried everything what his communist masters told him to do. But he is not winning the heart and the mind of our proud Ethiopian people so far. We have to organize our selves and do our best. One more thing, let us stop name calling and insulting other proud Ethiopian opposition groups when they are trying to do their best to get rid of this sorry azz weyane Monkey Ashebir from Minelik palace.

I am not asking US to do my fighting. I am commenting on a possible situation. You should be able to differentiate that. Knowing how things stand is important if you want to get any thing done. Shooting without differentiating foe from a fried in the darkness (like you usually do) is not a "plan". By the way I do have a plan. Long and short term. When you become interested in doing something more coherent and organized than your present engagement let me know and I will be happy to share it. I am not saying you are not contributing but with the same effort one could do better with a little planning and coordination.
