Yemane Gebreab's negative Asset in USA: Unpaid Student Loan!

Postby Tazabi-1 » 16 Apr 2010, 14:00

I heard from reliable Eritrean friend that upon flipping past files, the state department discovered only unpaid student loan borrowed by Yemane Gebreab when he was pursuing his graduate studies in University of Washington in Seattle.

The whole UN sanction against Eritrea was misguided. The inclusion of Yemane Gebreab's name in Obama's list but not in UN's list shows that the sanction is more and less posturing than real threat. There are rumors that an intensive diplomatic activities mediated by Qatar are underway and for now US Admin’s has opted to include Yemane Gebreab's name to appease Meles’ regime which has been nagging the state department to impose harsh sanction on Eritrea. US’s decision to just single out one name was not taken well by Meles and Eritrean opposition groups.

Sources from African Desk at the state department reveal that Eritrean opposition group and IGAD coined a lengthy list of Eritrean political figures to be included in the sanction's list. Now the irony UNSC facing is that since it categorized Eritrea's role in Somalia as "diminished or invisible", it would be very hard to include all those names provided by IGAD and Eritrean opposition groups. So the inclusion of Yemane in the list from Obama's office is more of an appeasement than real action.
BTW, The owner of Delina.org was very instrumental in compiling a list of Eritrean officials names for State department officials who were very astounded by the personal interest and determination of the CEO of AlemSoft and publisher of Delina.org to see Eritrean officials punished to the bone!

It has become a glaring example of how a Super power acts when its Foreign Policy goes awry. Here is a country, the US, that preaches about the rule of law and is quick to chastise countries and governments with whom she doesn't do any business as "Rogue", "Outcast" etc. And yet, it is gratifying to find the US “quagmired” in its own shortsighted game.
The UN Committee on Somalia (Eritrea) has clearly rejected the unfounded allegations Susan Rice and Obamama Administration have been pushing against "Certain individuals" of the GoE. Yet, the misguided giant has found it convenient to use Obama’s executive order just to prove that it can.
The good news is the action it took against Monkey is immaterial, insignificant and totally ludicrous that it is the US than is being ridiculed of its giant folly.

I didn't see any mention of Asmarino.com in above post, but only delina.org. Where did you get that if you've never heard of it? Just wandering.

I don't have a problem with that, minelik. But, you should update, or to be exact, re-configure the map during Atse Menilik's time. Remember Adwa, 1889? all the treaties were signed afterwards to reflect a map that doesn't bode well with the one you've got. I'm just a little precise like that. :D

I think this is just a dress rehearsal by the State Department. I don't think they are looking at the situation in Somalia lightly. Therefore, I believe the State Department and the U.N. will come up with a list that's going to cripple the Issaia regime. You can't spend million$ to fight terrorists in Somalia and fail to include the agents of instability from a list to be sanctioned against.

Nostaligic, The Somalis fighting against AMISOM are not terrorists, they are freedom fighters against inbading force.

That is a good catch. If he doesn't know about Asmarino.com how did he make the connections between Delina and Asmarino which is one and the same useless website?

Please, YeSat-Nebelbal. Let's be honest. Would you live in a place where they chop the hands of alleged thiefs and stone women for alleged adultery? No resonable person, and I know Ethiopians very well enough to say that no Ethiopian would have anything to do with such brutality. I also know Eritreans would find it unacceptabe regardless of their religion or ethnicity. So, let's not make these wicked terrorists into something we can live with. We're better of without these fanatics in our region. 8)
